Beschreibung
Over ten years ago, he noticed slight hints of rust around the fuel cap and some fender edges, so he had the car sanded down, repaired, and repainted below the waistline all around. At that time, the hood and trunk lid were also painted inside and out.
The last inspection was in August 2017, after which the car was exempt from further inspections.
The most recent owner acquired the car in September 2021. He had been working on a project car for many years, but when this fine example appeared, he jumped at the chance and got his dream car. It has been sparingly driven as an enthusiast vehicle. He installed a modern music system with Bluetooth and speakers in the trunk.
The car is equipped with a tow hitch.

Fakten zum Modell
The Opel Kapitän was the last model designed during the interwar period. It had a traditional body style of the time with protruding fenders. It premiered at the Geneva Motor Show in 1939 and was available in both closed and open versions. Production was halted at the end of 1940 due to World War II but resumed in 1948, now only as a four-door closed body. In the fall of 1953, a new Kapitän with a pontoon body was introduced and manufactured until the 1958 model year.
In 1959, a completely new car was launched, heavily influenced by the U.S. market. It featured the latest trends of the time, such as panoramic windows and fins. The design was criticized, particularly for how it negatively impacted passenger space compared to earlier Kapitän models. As a result, Opel quickly developed a new model, and the so-called P1 model was only in production for one model year. The car industry was changing rapidly at that time, and panoramic windows and fins quickly went “out of fashion.”
The model had a six-cylinder engine with a 2.5-liter displacement and 80 horsepower. Production stopped at 34,842 units. In Sweden, Opel cars were relatively popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including the Kapitän. Over time, Kapitäns became sought after, initially as “raggare” cars and later as enthusiast vehicles.
