Beschreibung

It was imported to Sweden in the fall of 1982 and registered in December of the same year. The current owner purchased the car almost two years later, in March 1984. He used it as a daily driver for several years and eventually planned to replace the front fenders. However, it ended up with him repairing all the rust damage the “Merc” could have from that era. Everything is documented in a classic small photo album on paper. The owner claims that there aren’t many W116s with better rust protection and condition, even compared to those that appear to be in very good condition externally. The model was indeed prone to rust, and there are many hidden areas that can be affected. For the last 25 years, the car has only been driven a few hundred kilometers. The most recent, and therefore the last approved inspection, was conducted on May 21, 2024.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

    The car primarily needs a complete oil service, including brake fluid and coolant, as well as an inspection and check of all hoses and connections since the car has been standing for over 23 years, albeit in a dry and warm environment. It has a smooth feel in the engine and gearbox, operating smoothly. The gear selector with steering column shifter and mechanical gear indicator on the steering column, following the American pattern of that time, apparently wasn’t standard on the cars sold in Sweden but was an optional variant in other markets. Original baroque wheels and a set of original steel wheels with fine original hubcaps are also included.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    Soft leather upholstery in its original condition, which also means some wear, primarily on the driver’s seat. Nowadays, there are many skilled craftsmen and effective methods that can restore and treat leather upholstery to almost new condition if desired, although worn leather also has its charm. Fine original carpets, good door panels, and headliner around the sunroof. A small dry crack on the top of the instrument panel near the instrument cluster. Desirable Becker Mexico original radio, which was not functioning at the time of documentation, but the owner intends to troubleshoot its functionality.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    The current owner conducted extensive bodywork renovations in the early nineties, and the car has been used as an enthusiast vehicle since then until 2001 when it was taken off the road. Today, there is a minor damage and blister on the hood, and the right rear door has paint peeling along the metal crease. The lower parts of the bumpers are not dirty; those are remnants of the rust protection. Otherwise, the exterior is presentable and neat. During the bodywork renovations, the metal around the sunroof was also replaced by a specialist in such metal operations.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    An older renovation that has held up well as a foundation, with some cosmetic needs and a review and service, is what’s required to turn this used representative Sonderklasse from the seventies into a gem.

"Våren 1984 köpte jag bilen. Jag är andra ägaren till bilen vad jag känner till. Vi använde bilen fram till 1991, då jag bestämde att den skulle behållas. Då startade en omfattande renovering / rostlagning av karossen, som avslutades med hellackering, rostskyddsbehandling, ny framruta, avgassystem och så vidare, allt fotodokumenterades. Bilen användes mest sommartid fram till 2001, då den ställdes av. I början av maj 2024 togs den fram efter 23 års vila och fick nya brytare, kondensator, tändkablar, vattenpump, termostat, bränslefilter och bränslepump. Därefter startades den upp och besiktigades 2024-05-21 för sista gången utan problem. Bilen är 50 år idag och behöver lite service och kärlek för att bli perfekt, men det finns ingen rost. Efter ha ägt bilen i 40 år är det platsbrist som gör att det är dags att sälja den".

  • During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
