Beschreibung

It was delivered new in March 1967 to its first owner in Sweden. After changing hands a few times in the seventies and eighties, it was last inspected on October 24, 1990, and taken off the road in September the following year, 1991. The current owner bought the car with a clear ambition to complete a started renovation, but it has remained stationary. The 33-year-old baton is ready for a new ambition, and despite everything, some renovation progress has been made in recent years.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

    Engine and gearbox feel good, albeit with unusual gear positions after the conversion from column to floor shifter. The brakes have been newly renovated with a newer brake servo and grip well. The older parts are included. The mechanical Kugelfischer fuel injection works fine, and such a pump is an expensive spare part. The fuel tank has also been renovated by the current owner.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    Complete interior with original upholstery, featuring a small tear on the passenger seat cushion. Otherwise, the headliner, door panels, and back seat are in good condition. At some point, the car was converted from a column shifter to a floor shifter using a period kit. The current owner had plans to revert it back if he had kept the car. That sounds like a good idea.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    The owner has removed most of the bad metal; a new floor on the left side is needed, as well as outer sills. These are not available as repro parts and must be bent and shaped. The original color was white, but the brown metallic paint is actually a Peugeot color. It’s an older repaint, and the trunk lid had a damage that has been repaired but not painted. The tires are old, and the right rear wheel is missing a lug clip to attach the hubcap.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    A beautiful classic Pininfarina coupé from Peugeot with great potential that doesn’t require too much work to become stylish and presentable.

Fakten zum Modell

Modellerna 404 Coupé och Cabriolet tillverkades hos Peugeot i Frankrike och Pininfarina Italien. Bottenplattor med torpedvägg, ämnade för 404 Berline, togs av löpande bandet vid fabrikerna i Sochaux och skickades på järnväg till Turin. Där blev det tillverkning och lackering av kaross, montering av glas, blankt och inredning. Mycket av detta gjordes för hand. Därefter åter till Sochaux för montering av motor med drivlina, fram- och bakvagn samt övrig mekanik och leveransjustering. Den fyrcylindriga bensinmotorn om 1.618 cm3 satt i alla versioner av modell 404. Den fanns med ordinär förgasare men också med en mekanisk insprutning från Kugelfischer, kallad Injection. Den introducerades med 404 Cabriolet 1962, året efter kom den även i Berline och Coupé. Det var för den tiden en exklusiv och tekniskt spännande lösning, med optimal tillförsel av luft/bränsle för varje cylinder. Motorn, årsmodell 1967, gav 88 hk DIN (96 hkr SAE), vilket gav fina fartresurser med bra botten- och vrid samt lägre bensinförbrukning. Vid den här tiden visade också Peugeot, att Injectionmotorn var snabb och pålitlig, då de vann Safarirallyt tre år i rad 1966-1968. Det tillverkades 6 841 exemplar av 404 Coupé modellåren 1963-1968, varav 1 358 modellåret 1967. Till Sverige kom ca 75 bilar modellåren 1964 - 1968. Av dessa finns 30 bilar kvar, flera är objekt och donatorbilar men ca 10 bör vara körbara. Flera Coupémodeller har fått bli just donatorbil, när en Cabriolet renoverats. Cabriolet-modellen tillverkades modellåren 1962-1968 i 10 388 exemplar. När det begav sig var en 404 Coupé Injection, den dyraste vagnen i Peugeots modellflora. Prislappen i Sverige var närmare dubbelt upp mot en Berline och landade strax under 30.000 kronor.

  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
