Beschreibung
The first family, based in Arbrå, kept the car until November 21, 1985, when the next owner family — also from the same town — took over. The current (third) family acquired the car on June 21, 1990; at that time, it had relatively recently been repainted. The car then moved to Stockholm, where it has remained ever since.
Three enthusiastic family members have cared for and driven it as an enthusiast vehicle throughout the years. It remains in fine, well-maintained original condition and has received normal service and upkeep over time. A few years ago, the current owner had a rebuilt gearbox with overdrive installed (an option available at extra cost when the model was new). A new exhaust system was also fitted a couple of years ago.
More recently, the master brake cylinder has been replaced, the brake servo rebuilt, and both clutch cylinders renewed.
The current odometer reading is 83,864 km. The odometer is on its second rotation, meaning the total distance driven is just over 180,000 km during its 55 years. This mileage can be traced through a binder containing all inspection reports, various notes from previous and current owners, and assorted receipts. The car also comes with the original owner’s manual and service booklet.
It has been fitted with a tow bar since new. Two sets of keys are included, as well as a period brochure (in German). The car was also featured in Klassiker magazine, issue no. 5, 2021.
The vehicle is insured as a classic car, has passed inspection, and is ready to drive.
Teknische Daten
Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
The smooth inline six-cylinder engine starts easily and runs calmly and nicely. The fuel injection system has been serviced and adjusted to ensure reliable operation, and the distributor has been adapted for unleaded fuel. Open air filter fitted.
During a short and gentle test drive on summer tires in winter conditions, the car felt tight and well-sorted — a very pleasant road car. The fuel pump in the trunk emitted an audible humming sound.
The car was not inspected on a lift, but from what could be observed it appeared to be in good condition, with no remarks noted from previous inspections. -
Zustand Interieur
Pleasant interior in original specification, finished in period-correct materials with vinyl and nylon upholstery, offering very good comfort in both seats and rear bench. Newer textile floor mats are fitted, and the original mats — showing normal signs of use in a more traditional style — are included. The headliner is in fine, intact condition.
The steering wheel, controls, Smiths gauges, and dashboard are in good original condition. Both the dashboard and door trim are finished in classic British wood with normal patina from use. All gauges and electrical functions are working, except for the clock.
A newer retro-style head unit with Bluetooth has been installed. The gear lever features an overdrive function, and an additional oil pressure gauge has been fitted, reflecting updates to these systems. The door stops for the front doors are missing. -
Zustand Exterieur
Repainted in the late 1980s and still in good condition, showing only light signs of use considering its age and mileage. The glass, chrome, trim, and lighting details are in equally fine condition.
The wheels are fitted with attractive hubcaps and newer tires in good shape. The engine bay presents in normal driver condition, while the trunk remains in well-preserved original condition. -
Zustand gesamt
A well-maintained, functional, and comfortable classic that has been fortunate to have enthusiastic owners — and is now ready for a new caretaker to continue enjoying it.
Both the model itself and this particular example offer driving pleasure, British/Italian design and character — a reliable friend and a true classic for the whole family.

Fakten zum Modell
The new car featured a monocoque body designed by Giovanni Michelotti — Italian influences were very much in vogue at the time. It was also equipped with independent suspension with coil springs. The two-liter inline six-cylinder engine from its predecessor was retained, producing 90 hp with twin Stromberg carburetors.
The new Triumph 2000 was launched in October 1963 at the London Motor Show. In 1968, it was complemented by a slightly detuned version of the 2.5-liter engine from the TR5 sports car. With Lucas fuel injection, it produced 132 hp (DIN). A total of 129,674 examples of the first-generation 2000 and 2500 PI were built between 1963 and 1969.
An updated version, the Mk II, was introduced in the autumn of 1969. Once again, Michelotti was responsible for the design. It received more modern lines with a new front and rear, as well as updated instrumentation and interior trim. The fuel-injected engine, now called the 2.5 PI, received some criticism, and for the 1974 model year a 2500 TC with twin SU carburetors producing 99 hp was introduced. The injection system was replaced the following year by an S version using the TC setup but now delivering 106 hp, along with larger wheels and anti-roll bars similar to those of the Stag model.
Production of the 2.5 PI and 2500 TC/S Mk II from 1969 to 1977 totaled 194,978 units. There was no direct Triumph successor; instead, within British Leyland, the new Rover SD1 replaced both the Rover P6 and the Triumph 2500.
