"The car runs well and is in very good usable condition, though it requires some experience to shift gears. It is ready to drive and makes a good impression both inside and out."

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car runs well, and the brakes work without pulling to one side. There is a slight ticking sound in the engine. Shifting smoothly requires some experience.

It has recently undergone a startup service after being driven sparingly in recent years. The electric soft top functions flawlessly but takes some time to open and close. The radio and clock are not working.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The reupholstered interior is in good condition. The seats and instruments come from a donor car at the Eda scrapyard in Värmland.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

When the car was restored, it was painted in the owner’s garage with good results that still look nice today. The chrome has minor blemishes in some areas, as well as a small dent in the front.

The soft top is intact and in good condition, providing a tight seal, but there is a tear near the rear side window on the right side. It has nearly new tires mounted on 15-inch steel rims.

  • Zustand gesamt:

A stunning convertible that is built to be enjoyed—runs well and is ready for summer road trips.

Kommentar vom Besitzer

The Pontiac Torpedo was a full-size car manufactured by Pontiac from the 1940 to 1948 model years (excluding the wartime years). Upon its release, it was the largest Pontiac, featuring an 8-cylinder engine and more equipment than other Pontiac models.

While the Torpedo name was exclusive to Pontiac's top-of-the-line model in 1940, in 1941, it was applied across all Pontiac vehicles in three distinct lines. The Custom Torpedo became the top-tier model, the DeLuxe Torpedo served as the base model, and the Streamline Torpedo represented Pontiac's mid-range offering. Starting in 1941, all Torpedo models were available with either a 6-cylinder or 8-cylinder engine.

From 1942 to 1948, the Torpedo name designated only Pontiac’s base-line models. The Pontiac Chieftain replaced the Torpedo in 1949. This generation also marked a shift across all GM vehicles, introducing wider dimensions to accommodate three passengers on the front bench seat and three more in the rear seat, enhancing overall passenger capacity.
