Beschreibung

The car was purchased new by a man who took exceptional care of his Citroën, always storing it in a heated garage. Being a knowledgeable owner, he performed his own maintenance and meticulously addressed any minor damages.

The car has never been welded, though the lower edges of the doors have been repaired with sheet metal, which has been riveted in place.

Upon his passing, the car was inherited by his son, a traffic police officer in Kalmar. He drove it sparingly during the summer and entrusted it to the local Citroën workshop for any necessary repairs.

In 2012, when he had to move and no longer had access to a garage, he sold the car to its current owner, who works at the same Citroën workshop. Since then, the car has been mechanically maintained and carefully preserved in its fine original condition.

Fakten zum Modell

The Birth of a Legend: Citroën DS & ID
At the Paris Motor Show in October 1955, Citroën unveiled the DS 19—a car that didn’t just make waves but became one of the biggest talking points in automotive history. This futuristic creation, packed with cutting-edge technology, generated enormous attention and record-breaking interest. During the first week of the show, a staggering 12,000 pre-orders were placed—despite requiring a 10% deposit. The rest, as they say, is automotive history, and an icon was born.

However, the revolutionary design came with early production challenges. Delivery issues and teething problems plagued the DS, but over time, production stabilized, and the cars began to hit the roads in increasing numbers.

The Introduction of the ID 19 (1957)
To complement the high-tech DS, Citroën introduced a simplified version in March 1957—the ID 19. This variant featured a conventional braking system, no power steering, and a more basic interior. In some ways, the ID 19 was seen as a more reliable and practical alternative.

The model found a solid customer base, including in Sweden, where records indicate that 213 DS and 77 ID models from the 1957 model year were sold. Over the 1960s, the ID continued to evolve alongside the DS, incorporating many of the same updates.

By 1970, the ID-series was phased out, replaced by the D-Super, which carried on the tradition of offering a simpler, more affordable alternative to the flagship DS.
