Beschreibung

The first owner had a great interest in cars, then primarily from GM and Chevrolet. From the mid-50s onward, he drove the beautiful Bel Air and Impala models. So in February 1968, he invested in a Pontiac Tempest Le Mans 2-door Hard Top, at Motorami in Stockholm, it was given the registration number BA60683. When the new plates came in 1973, they became DLL203. In August 1977, the owner emigrated to Switzerland and took the car with him as moving goods. When he later died, the son brought the car home to Sweden again, in September 2002. The car has always been garaged and taken good care of.

An unusual model that has the motor historical value, as it is largely in a well-preserved original condition, not renovated or rebuilt in terms of chassis, drivetrain, bodywork or interior. The odometer reading is 17810 km, according to information it has been around the clock. There is wear and tear and repairs that reflect its years and miles.

The car comes with photos, lots of documents, inspection reports, service papers, etc., as well as previous registration plates, the so sought-after in "correct dimensions" i.a. for Americans.

A working Blaupunkt stereo has been in from the beginning. It has also waist belts with the GM logo, GM mudguards etc. A lovely time capsule.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

    Starts easily, nice rumble, pleasant ride with tight and quiet characteristics. The engine, shifting, brakes and steering showed good function during a short test drive. The car has been driven rarely and for shorter distances in recent years, which is why a technical review and service are recommended. The generator does not charge - but will be fixed before sale/delivery. The electric antenna is not working.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    The interior is in impeccable original condition, carpets, seats, door cards with the Le Mans emblem, sun visors and headliner are in very good condition. Some wear on parcel shelf, probably sun-bleached. The dashboard, steering wheel and gear lever/console are also in good condition. The door lock on the right side is slightly damaged.

    The luggage compartment was slightly damaged from moisture. A check and cleaning are recommended.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    Original condition in terms of paintwork, glass, chrome and wheels. There are scratches, small dents, stone chips and indications that at various times over the years, repairs have been made to the bodywork and paint. On visual inspection, the bodywork appears to be rust-free, but hints of rust on the trim at the front wheel arches on the driver's side. Doors and hoods are in good condition with a solid feel and all locks etc work. During the inspection, we were not allowed to do a thorough check of the undercarriage, but it was stated to be in good condition. It is a car thats more than 50 year old, which is why damage can occur.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    A genuine Swedish-sold American in original condition from the 60s is very rare. Although it was not one of the toughest muscle cars of that era, its still a powerful car with an aggressive and quick design.

Fakten zum Modell

Pontiac, namngiven efter en indianhövding, blev ett märke inom General Motors 1926. Genom åren kom Pontiac att räknas som en mellanklassvagn, snäppet över Chevrolet men snäppet under Buick och Oldsmobile. År 2009 bestämde sig GM för att lägga ner märket och det blev också det sista tillverkningsåret för Pontiac, eller var det kanske bara det senaste - allt kan ju hända.

Hursom, i slutet av 50-talet profilerade man Pontiac som ett märke med prestandaambitioner, först ut var modellen Bonneville 1957. Det följdes senare av GTO och Firebird. Just GTO var ett utrustningspaket av Tempest/Le Mans och 1964 slängde man i en 389-motor från den större Bonneville i den mindre karossen, det sågs som startskottet för muskelbilsepoken.

Tempest var en mindre- och instegsmodell hos Pontiac from 1961 men som så mycket annat under den här tiden både växte den och förärades med olika utrustningspaket. Första generationen tillverkades tom 1963.

Den andra generationen 1964-1967. Den tredje så 1968-1970. Här hittar vi då Series 237 Tempest Le Mans. Den fick en ny kaross i sk Coke Bottle styling, som var populärt på den här tiden. Vindrutetorkare smögs ner under huven i vilande läge, det blev återigen liggande strålkastare i par, samt en markerad noskon. Mindre förändringar gjordes av designen de kommande åren. Däremot kom det att bli en hel del förändringar och kanske lätt förvirrande med olika motorer, automatlådor och utrustningspaket. Nåväl 1970 var det slut med modellen för den här gången men en fjärde version kom 1987-1991, fast det är en helt annan historia.

Pontiac Tempest Le Mans 2-dörrars Hard Top 1968 i detta objekts utförande, har en 350 cu.in. motor om 5,7 Liter på DIN 265 hkr, tvåstegs automat, styrservo och bromsservo och i övrigt sedvanlig utrustning.
