Beschreibung
The current owner acquired the car in May 2004 and, being an enthusiast and the owner of an authorized car workshop, provided the car with excellent care, regular servicing, and various upgrades. In 2019, the engine underwent a complete overhaul. The engine block was bored and decked, the cylinder head was refurbished and fitted with new lifters. The head gasket is a Volvo special for tuned engines. The car features forged JE pistons, H-beam connecting rods, new rod bearings, and bolts. The turbo was overhauled and upgraded by Turbotech Sweden AB. A new flywheel and clutch set were installed. The front exhaust pipe, including a racing catalytic converter from Ferrita, and an open air filter were also added. The car has also been "chipped". Following the engine overhaul, the car has covered less than 3000 km.
Over the years, the car has undergone various cosmetic changes, such as fully color-matched bumpers, side moldings, door handles (original black ones included), and mirrors, along with yellow mudflaps. Additionally, different headlights were installed (originals included).
Inside, the car features correct leather and Amaretta upholstery, floor mats with embroidered "850" in yellow, wooden panels, and aluminum sill plates. Of course, it has an electric sunroof and an onboard computer. There's a small plaque on the dashboard stating that this is a Volvo 850 T5R, Number 35. At the time of writing, it's unclear whether this number refers to the total production or those exported to Italy, likely the latter. The original emblem for the rear hatch is also included, and a removable tow hitch is installed.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
The engine has been newly overhauled and is additionally prepared for enhanced durability and performance. It starts easily and runs smoothly. The engine produces a potent sound but maintains a relatively calm and smooth operation. The clutch, gear shifting, and brakes are all functioning well. There is some squeaking during braking, which is likely due to the car not having been driven for a while. Overall, everything seems to be working properly. The car has not been inspected on a lift, but from what could be observed, it appears to be in good condition.
-
Zustand Interieur
The car retains all the correct T-Gul (T-Yellow) attributes in a well-preserved original condition. There is mild wear, but everything is intact and functioning well. The air conditioning is effective and provides cooling. There is a newer music and media system installed as well.
-
Zustand Exterieur
The paintwork is in good condition with some patina. Bumpers, mirrors, and door handles are painted in yellow. Glass, plastic, and rubber are in excellent condition. Wheels (Titan) and tires are also in great shape. The engine compartment and trunk are in impeccable condition.

Zustand gesamt
A T-Gul was essentially an enthusiast and collector's car from day one. With low production numbers and its unique characteristics, it is highly sought after today. This example is in a technically and visually potent and excellent condition. A classic that will soon be turning 30 years old. It's a piece of Swedish automotive history, plain and simple.

Fakten zum Modell
This was a massive undertaking for the time, estimated to cost 16 billion, when the model was completed and unveiled in 1991. While Volvo retained core values of quality and safety, they also moved upmarket towards the premium class and adopted a much more modern and sporty image.
The roots of this endeavor trace back to 1978 when PG Gyllenhammar gave the green light to the Galaxy project. Designed by Jan Wilsgaard, the 850 stood on the podium at the premiere in Globen on June 11, 1991, leaving the automotive world in awe. Between 1992 and 1996, new variants continuously emerged, starting with a four-door sedan and later, in true Volvo fashion, a five-door estate. Volvo even took the estate to the racing track for some good PR and brand repositioning. This strategy succeeded as the calm and dependable versions retained the loyal customer base, while options like the Turbo and all-wheel drive in vibrant colors with upscale interiors also attracted new customers.
The 850 T-5R, initially known as T-Gul, was produced from 1994 to 1996, spanning model years 1995 to 1996. It was Volvo's fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car ever. It was initially available in yellow, hence the name, but other more discreet colors followed during its production. Later, an 850 R, often called T-Röd due to its red color, was introduced.
For the 1997 model year, an updated version of the 850 was released, which eventually led to the S70 and V70 models, but that's a completely different story.
