Beschreibung

This car was reportedly brought to Sweden in the 1970s but was not registered or restored at that time. The current owner acquired the car in 2019 to renovate and get it running. As a historic motor enthusiast with numerous previous restorations and decades of experience as a racer in the 1000/1200 cup, he took on yet another project. The car was completely disassembled, thoroughly inspected, and restored over several years to its current condition. It has been well-renovated to original specifications and is entirely rust-free.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

    Easy to start and idled smoothly, everything seems to work well. It has a four-speed gearbox with an unsynchronized first gear and new clutch plates. The rear axle has been overhauled. The newly manufactured radiator works well even in high summer temperatures. Although not inspected on a lift, it was still possible to examine the underside of the car, which is in newly renovated condition.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    The interior has been inspected and renovated. The front seats have been reupholstered with faux leather. However, the backseat appears to be in its original condition, with leather upholstery showing signs of use and patina.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    Newer paintwork in good condition. Details such as trim, glass, and lighting are also in good condition. The trafficators are functional. A charming American trunk is included. Originally, there was a sunroof, but it has been sealed. The parts for the sunroof, in worn condition, are included. The car features nice wire wheels and good newer tires.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    Austin's bestseller from the interwar years is a fine representative of the early people's car era. This car is in beautifully restored condition. An enthusiast's vehicle and classic that brings joy.

Fakten zum Modell

The Austin Motor Company manufactured cars from 1905 to 1989. The company was founded by Herbert Austin, who had a background with Wolseleys. Initially, they operated in Longbridge outside Birmingham. After World War I, the company faced tough economic times, but things turned around with the small car Austin Seven. During the 1930s, the company continued to progress, although Herbert Austin himself began to scale back due to his age. He passed away in 1941. During World War II, the company shifted production to aircraft engines and airplanes. After the war, Austin quickly resumed car manufacturing and acquired Vanden Plas. They began a successful partnership with Donald Healey and launched the sports car Austin-Healey, now an icon. They also merged with Morris in 1952 to form BMC. During the increasingly turbulent period for British car manufacturing, BMC became part of British Leyland in 1968.

The Austin Ten model was launched in April 1932, positioned as a small mid-sized car between the successful Austin Seven introduced in 1922 and the larger Austin Twelve from 1931. The Ten was produced until World War II in various versions, including four-door Saloons, two and four-seat Tourers, Sports, and Cabriolet. Additionally, there were two-door utility vehicles in Van and Pickup forms. These two and the standard Saloon were the only ones produced after the war. In October 1947, the successor A40 took the stage. The Austin Ten became the company's best-selling model during the 1930s, with a total of 290,000 units built from 1932 to 1939 and from 1945 to 1947.

The engine was a 1,125 cc side-valve four-cylinder with a four-speed gearbox and mechanical brakes. In August 1934, several changes were made, including painting the frame around the radiator grille in the car's color and tilting the radiator slightly. The second gear also became synchronized.

The Austin Ten received good reviews and was considered to have good performance and road manners at the time. The top speed was stated to be 55 mph, but the car comfortably and safely cruised at 35 mph, which was sufficient for city traffic and the narrow, winding roads among villages, hedges, and rolling fields of the English countryside.

Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
