Volvo PV 444 L B16 — 1957

This fine PV has only had three utility owners. The first a gentleman in Fjugesta who bought the car new and drove it for 24 years up until 1981, when his daughter took over it. The car was then left standing in the family garage under the villa in Kristinehamn. The current owner (who is a well-known motor journalist at Tekniks Värld) bought the car from the family in Kristinehamn in the summer of 2010. He immediately became fond of the PV. It felt fresh in chassis and brakes. The B16 engine was alert with gear clicked easily and no strange noises or vibrations. The reason for this the car has barely driven 100,000 km. It was well serviced, rust-protected and had always been in the garage. This explained why the car also survived so well in appearance. Two wings were changed (on the passenger side) but otherwise the car has its original paint. There are no rust damages, but there are few minor touch ups. The décor is completely original with the upholstery is nice and untouched. Only traces of use on the armrests of the door cards. Hans Hedberg, has been driving 17,000km with the car since 2010. He has changed the oil and polished it for each season and always been garaged. Driving has mostly been on reportage trips. The person who buys this car gets with all the articles about the car as well as the Volvo book, signed by Hans Hedberg. It’s an opportunity for the discerning car collector to buy one of Volvo's most important models that’s untouched in its very nice original condition, which is also nice to drive.

• Zustand technisch

  Runs nicely in engine and gearbox, and the brakes are strong and even. The car is very well kept and feels like a proper PV should.

  It’s complete with clean upholstery on all seats, with a little wear on the door cards. Overall it’s untouched and in its original condition.

  Very presentable car with mostly original paint part from the right wing is changed and the paint to a high standard.

  With certainty this specimen is one of the better non-renovated late 444s, with its nice chrome, paint work, and interior.

Volvo PV av 1957 års modell är speciell. En härlig blandning av gammalt och nytt. Det är exempelvis sista året med 444 beteckningen (som ersattes av 544 året efter). Den har kvar den gamla vackra inredningen och instrumentbrädan samt delad framruta. Den har den nya fronten, med ny grill och också den nya B16-motorn som gjorde bilen riktigt kul att köra. Som kuriosa vill vi nämna att första halvåret 1957 hade dessa bilar också, så som denna, ett stort mässingsfärgat V i fronten, och på bakluckan. Detta fick dock Volvo snabbt plocka bort, då Chevrolet ansåg att detta var varumärketsintrång. De hade registrerat ett V som symbol för sina V8-modeller. PV:n sålde vid denna tid mycket bra i USA, (då modellen var väldigt lik populära Ford 1946 i formen, och prisvärd). Man ville inte bråka med Chevrolet, så V:et försvann snabbt.
Extra kul på just denna bil är att förste ägaren i Fjugesta efter ett par år uppdaterade bilen till mer modernt utseende, vilket innebar de större 544-baklamporna samt en framruta, specialbeställd från Svenskt-Bilglas, men knick på mitten så det blev hel framruta, istället för den vanliga delade, med alumniumlist i mitten. Sammantaget gör allt detta denna bil till en spännande samlarbil som det ofta surras kring på bilträffar.

• At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
• During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
• ATTENTION: Many of these cars are sold without valid Swedish registration documents, as spare parts.

Important to know before placing your bids!

• Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
• When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
• If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
• If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
• Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
• For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
