Beschreibung
Let’s be clear from the start—this particular Beetle is not for the shy owner looking to blend in at a car meet. With alloy wheels, a lowered front suspension, and sun-faded patinated paint, it has a distinctive stance and presence that makes people look twice.
According to the Swedish Transport Agency, the car has had four owners since new. The current owner purchased it in Dalarna in 2022 and had it inspected by Fahlke Classic Cars in Åmål. There, the front shock absorbers were replaced and the electrical system was checked and addressed.
The car was last inspected in 2018 and is now inspection-exempt. It has been used for classic car meets and for grocery runs across the Norwegian border. The “Sockervägen” (Sugar Road), which runs through the deep forests of Värmland and crosses between Norway and Sweden, has been a favored route. Sugar, yeast, and other groceries have been popular items on these trips.
The odometer reads 39,640 km, but the total mileage is unknown, as it rolls over after 100,000 km. The car comes with only one ignition key. The original jack is included, but the spare wheel is missing.
Teknische Daten
Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
The engine number indicates that the 1200 cc engine produces 30 horsepower and was manufactured in 1955. The gearbox is a 4-speed unit with a non-synchronized first gear.
It starts easily and runs steadily, driving nicely on the road. During the test drive, it misfired slightly. It has not been driven much over the past two years and will require a service and a check of the ignition system.
The Eberspächer gasoline heater is not connected. -
Zustand Interieur
Worn interior. The interior is largely original, except for the front seats, which are upholstered in vinyl and sourced from a 1970 convertible. The headliner is original.
The rubber mats are worn but still usable. Along the sills and kick panels, there is a green wall-to-wall carpet dating back to the 1970s—rustic and subdued, yet unique.
The dashboard is well preserved, and all instruments and electrical functions such as lights, indicators, and wipers are working. However, the windshield washer does not function, as the spare wheel is missing along with the washer fluid reservoir. On these cars, air pressure from the spare tire is used to operate the washer system. -
Zustand Exterieur
Worn paint with surface rust, scratches, and general imperfections. There are a few rust holes along the lower edges of the fenders (a new right front fender is included separately). The bumpers show surface rust and minor dents.
Fitted with classic-style JBW alloy wheels. Good tires in size 195/60-15" at the rear and 145/65-15" at the front. On the underside of the floorpan, there is extensive surface rust as well as some rust holes; this will need inspection and appropriate attention in the medium term. The sills would be sensible to address at the same time. Please study the photos carefully. -
Zustand gesamt
The overall impression can be summed up as follows: a truly charming vehicle in usable, functional condition, in need of a service check and, in due course, attention to rust in the floorpan. Improvements can be made gradually while continuing to enjoy and use the car.
