Beschreibung

It was sold new in Finland in 1965, and the current owner imported the car with the intention of taking part in a specific rally in Italy for vehicles from before the 1967 model year. The logistics surrounding the project turned out to be more extensive than expected, so it was never carried out, but the car is now registered and inspected in Sweden. The most recent — and under current regulations, final — approved inspection was completed on November 10, 2025.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

    The engine was rebuilt about 10 years ago and was then upgraded with a more aggressive camshaft, a lightened flywheel, and a competition manifold (an extractor exhaust manifold). The rest of the system is also new. It starts easily and feels lively on the move, with the gearbox, brakes, and chassis all working well together. The engine prefers to reach operating temperature in order to maintain a steady idle and smooth running overall.

    The front brakes were refurbished in Finland with new calipers and pads, and prior to inspection in Sweden the car was fitted with new rear brake shoes.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    A nicely worn-in interior in red leather with used carpets, good door panels, and a well-kept headliner in the hardtop. The dashboard’s wood veneer has a fine finish, as does the classic wooden steering wheel.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    An older repaint with minor imperfections, bubbles, and some color variations, yet still presentable in its user-friendly condition. There appears to be some adjustment margin in the doors to improve alignment with the A- and B-pillars.

    The car is fitted with a so-called Surrey hardtop, giving it a targa-like configuration with a removable hard roof as well as a folding soft top. The hardtop itself can also be completely removed and replaced with a classic convertible hood. A new windshield seal is included.

    Original wire wheels that complement the car’s overall exterior, fitted with older Klebér tires from 2006 that still have good tread.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    Good value and user-friendly with its versatile roof setup, and it gives a mechanically reassuring impression thanks to its rebuilt engine. A car that, with the right enthusiastic mindset and a sensible garage solution, could be driven regularly during the summer season. And also casually and playfully drop by a few meets along the way without any embarrassment.

Fakten zum Modell

The TR4 model was introduced for the 1961 model year and was produced in its base version through 1965. Much of the mechanicals remained the same as before, but it now featured a new body designed by Giovanni Michelotti—Italian design was very much in vogue at the time.

At the beginning of 1965, a change was made to the chassis and rear suspension, introducing independent rear suspension. This resulted in improved ride comfort and a more compliant road feel. This version became known as the TR4A IRS.

Not everyone was pleased—particularly in the United States, where it was considered too expensive, and purists felt it had become too soft on the road. As a result, the TR4A without IRS continued to be produced in parallel, primarily for the U.S. market.

  • At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time.   • During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
