Beschreibung

Possibly, this is a delivery chassis that remained unsold. At the time, Volvo had a number of unsold delivery chassis and reportedly decided to bring them into the factory to build the Duett in-house. If this is an original delivery chassis, there is good reason to believe this because the chassis plate does not indicate the color or type of interior. Regardless, this is very likely one of the earliest Duetts ever made that still exists.

This car was sold new by "Jacobssons Bil" in Borlänge, which is now called "Rolf Erikssons Bil". The Volvo was sold new to a school in Rättvik. It was then sold to Fricks Bageri, where it was repainted from its original wine red and beige colors to the bakery's green and white colors.

It has been partially repaired for rust. The car currently has a B16 engine installed, but it does not run. Included with the car is a B4B engine that was taken from a 1953 PV, but it also does not run as it is stuck. A specific detail on this early car is the fuel tank cap, which has an unusual opening and placement. Original grill parts are included, as seen in the photo. What is visible in the pictures is included, there is nothing else.

Fakten zum Modell

The PV445 was introduced during the summer of 1953 and was based on the Volvo PV 444. The model was designed to open up a new market for those in need of a larger, more spacious car. The name "Duett" comes from Volvo's idea of using the car as both a commercial vehicle and a leisure vehicle. The car was designed by engineer Erik Skoog. The Volvo Duett was manufactured from 1953 to 1969. The last Duett was king blue and left the assembly line on February 11, 1969. It had chassis number 97,299 and is now on display at the Volvo Museum. In total, over 93,000 Duetts and 4,200 delivery chassis had been produced by then.
