This 1929 Packard Coupe 645 was sold to the current owner before Big Ben's wellknown museum burned down in 1990.
This Packard with production number 257999 is one of the desirable with chassis built by the renown chassis designer Dietrich - which means that it is a very grand and well-equipped car with a lot of exclusive details such as openable windshield, rear blinds and vases for fresh flowers.
The history about how this car came into Big Ben's possession is still unknown. However, it is clear that at some point it was refurbished and has aged very well. The paint has some minor runnings, cracks and other minor defects but the overall impression is still very good.
The luxurious upholstery is most probably refurbished. Minor damage in the textile and some spots need adjustment and remounting. The woodwork is in good condition.
The compartment with the straight 8-cylinder 384 cubic inch engine is neat. The engine starts and works. However, it needs some service to work 100%.

Starts and works on start gas. The car was run some years ago without any problems. Tidy engine compartment. Oil moisture on the engine. The engine has no air filter. The tailgate cannot be locket. Doors cannot be locked from the outside. The underneath is inspected, serviced and in good condition.

Nicely serviced and in good condition. The right side door interior slightly loose. Minor damage in the upholstery textile and some spots need adjustment and remounting. The woodwork is in good condition. Controls, steering wheel and pedals in fine condition.

Old repaint. Some paint pillings, runnings and cracks. Minor paint rising damages on the wheel rims. Chrome in good condition with some decor having superficial cracks - can be partly removed by polishing. Intact and fine ceiling. Rubber strips somewhat dry. Lights in good condition. A crack in right side wind deflector (small window).

Packard stod på toppen i slutet av 20-talet och rankades högre än både Pierce-Arrow, Cadillac och Lincoln. 1929 sålde man hela 55 000 bilar och byggde samtidigt några av världens mest luxuösa bilar.
