The engine is a sport engine of the correct type, restored to the highest standards, although it has not been fitted in this particular PV 544 Sport since new. During the restoration, the current owner discovered that a previous owner had replaced the original engine with a standard B18 engine. This was not unusual back in the day when these cars served as everyday vehicles. Considerable time and effort were therefore devoted to finding the correct type of engine during the restoration. The odometer shows just under 90,000 km; the car's total mileage since new is unknown to us.
The owner is now selling the car for personal reasons.
The car comes with a spare wheel fitted with an older bias-ply tire. Owner's manual and jack are missing.
This is a distance auction. Photos and information about the vehicle and its technical condition have been provided by the owner. BWA has therefore not inspected the car in person at the seller's location.

Zustand technisch
Equipped with a genuine B18B sport engine that has been completely rebuilt. The block has been bored to 0.30 and new pistons and a new camshaft have been fitted. The cylinder head has also been completely rebuilt and converted for unleaded fuel. The carburetors have been rebuilt by the SU specialist in Vännäs. The gearbox is the classic four-speed M40 unit, which has undergone a rebuild with new bearings and more. The rear axle is a Spicer M27 where the wheel bearings as well as the pinion and ring gear bearings have been replaced, and it has subsequently been adjusted with original Volvo shims to specification. Easy to start and performs very well in both engine and gearbox. (See the video to hear the engine sound) The front suspension has also been rebuilt with new bushings, etc.

Zustand Interieur
Here everything is new, from floor to ceiling. Newly manufactured interior trim from the well-renowned VP Autoparts has been installed. This includes the headliner, seat upholstery, dashboard padding, rubber mat, and more. The only items that have not been replaced are the sun visors. Better condition than this is hard to imagine.
The sport model of the PV 544 had special rubberized aluminum entry guards on the rocker panels. These are not available newly produced in original specification, which is why the originals have been retained. There is some wear on the rubber, especially on the driver's side. -
Zustand Exterieur
A presentable and tidy exterior.
The car was partially repainted in 2024 in the original color Volvo Red number 46. All four fenders have been replaced with Volvo NOS units. The bumpers, including the US-style bumper guards, are newly manufactured in stainless steel with good fitment. The rubber seals and trim moldings around the rear window and windshield are new. The remaining trim moldings are in good usable condition. Equipped with newly manufactured 5.5" steel wheels, in the same style as the highly sought-after wheels from the 1960s, fitted with tires in size 195/65-15. Nice undercarriage. See the photos. -

Beautifully restored PV Sport in the most sought-after color. A Norrland car that is fully roadworthy.

Fakten zum Modell
The first Sport arrived in 1958, shortly after the introduction of the PV 544. The more powerful engine, featuring twin carburetors among other things, was initially reserved exclusively for the US market, but by the end of 1958 it became clear that it could also be sold on the home market without US import duties being raised.
The first cars sold had the 85 hp B16B engine, but in August 1961 it was replaced by the new five-bearing B18 engine. The PV 544 Sport received the 90 hp B18D engine. In August 1965, the Sport's output was increased to 95 hp, but only about a month later Volvo announced that the model would be discontinued at the end of October 1965.
The last PV ever built was a black 544 Sport.
