This car has had few owners who have taken great care of it and it has seen little use. The current owner bought the car from an acquaintance in 2024; it was in good condition but needed new fenders. These were replaced and painted in the original color.

The paint is in very good condition, only the front fenders have been replaced and painted in the original color. There is a touch-up on the left rear door and the 'dog leg'. Some minor surface rust is also present on the right side. The chrome is in good condition, though some pitting can be found. Good tires on original rims.

When Volvo launched the 140 series in the autumn of 1966, model year 1967, a new era began for the company. Previous cars from the Gothenburg manufacturer had been inspired by American automotive design, with the PV and Amazon, and the P1800 drawing influences from Italy.
Now, the design shifted to a clean and angular style that could be said to reflect a modern Scandinavian expression. Work on Project P660, which later became designated 1400 and eventually the 140 model, had already begun in June 1960. Early in the process, Volvo decided to produce two-, four-, and five-door versions. Under the leadership of Jan Wilsgaard, the design team created a long-lived and timeless form that endured all the way from 1966 until 1993, when the 240 series was finally discontinued.
From the very beginning, Volvo demonstrated that it was now taking the lead in safety within the automotive industry. At launch, the model featured, among other things, a dual-circuit braking system, disc brakes on all wheels, a collapsible steering column, and a laminated windshield designed to flex on impact. Surrounding the passengers was a ‘safety cage’ of box beams, along with crumple zones front and rear. The doors were fitted with safety locks, the rearview mirror was spring-mounted, and the seats were ingeniously designed to reduce injuries such as whiplash.
Previously, various safety features—especially in the U.S.—had often been seen as a sign that a car was not safe enough. But now, that perception shifted worldwide, and Volvo took the lead when it came to safety thinking on a global scale.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
