This copy is one of the very first of Volvo's revolutionary 855 T-5R. Volvo's marketing department used it to market the new stronger and tougher version of the Volvo 855. Its basis was for Volvo's successful participation in the BTCC racing series. It appears on several press images and in newspaper reports. It’s quite like the production car buy not everything was ready when it was built. Volvo then did the same trick when the Volvo 855 R (T-Red) was presented. They used the same car but repainted it to red and made smaller modifications adapted for the new model. Later in private hands, it has been repainted into the gray color of the pictures.
According to Volvo, the Volvo 850/855 T-5R was to be built in a maximum of 2,500 copies to order. 300 copies were intended for the Swedish market. For the extra SEK 100,000 paid, the buyer got a car in a Volvo unique color, special 17 inch alloy wheels, special front spoiler and wing of the trunk in addition to the mechanical/electronic upgrade of the machine. Stiffer suspension and lowered chassis also did their part to make the car both be and look faster.
The 0-100 km/h hour was managed in 6.9 seconds and the top speed was declared to be 245 km/h.

Paint chip show where previous colors are visible. Broken tailgate lock. Cracked and paint damaged front spoiler. Fog lights are broken.

Volvo 850/855 T-5R skulle enligt Volvo byggas i max 2 500 exemplar på beställning. 300 exemplar var avsedda för den svenska marknaden. Den kostade ny 380 000 kr. För de extra 100 000 kr som man betalade fick köparen en bil i en för Volvo unik kulör, speciella 17 tums alufälgar, speciell frontspoiler samt vinge på bakluckan förutom den mekaniska/elektroniska uppgraderingen av maskinen. Styvare fjädring och sänkt chassie gjorde också sitt till för att få bilen att både vara och se snabbare ut.
0-100 km/h timmen klarades av på 6,9 sekunder och toppfarten angavs vara 245 km/h.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
