Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs smoothly in the engine and drivetrain. During a test drive at a calm pace with gentle acceleration and braking, everything such as steering, clutch, gear shifting, road handling, and brakes was experienced as operating smoothly and well. Not checked on a lift, but what could be seen looked good and there were no comments from the vehicle inspection regarding the undercarriage.

Zustand Interieur
Nice and well-preserved interior (Oregon) in leather and textile with good bounce in the chairs. Mild wear and in finely preserved condition for age and mileage. Nice extra textile mats with logo. Steering wheel, controls, instruments in fine condition with all functions working well. Windshield between chairs.

Zustand Exterieur
Fine paintwork (Montreal Blue metallic) that appears to be in original condition. Other details such as chrome, glass, rubber, plastic, emblems, lighting details etc. are also in the same fine condition. There are some minor scuffs and scratches but overall in good condition for its age and mileage. The soft top is in fine condition and the manual mechanics work well. There is a small gap in the seal/list between the window and the fabric at the top rear on the driver's side but it appears to be tight. Nice wheels and tires (Dunlop Sport).

Zustand gesamt
Time flies and it is de facto 30 years since the Z3 model was released, and it is now speeding into the class of classic and enthusiast cars. The history and condition of this car, along with the pleasant and classic combination of color, rims, and interior, make it a fine collector's car.

Fakten zum Modell
That changed in 1989 when BMW launched the unique Z1. The "Z" stands for "zukunft," the German word for "future." The most unusual feature of the Z1 was its doors, which didn’t open in the traditional manner but instead slid down into the relatively high door sills. It wasn't a commercial success at the time, though today it is a highly sought-after collector’s item.
Around this same period, Mazda launched the MX-5 Miata, which turned the automotive world on its head by bringing back the simple, small sports car reminiscent of the 1950s and 60s. It became clear that there was a huge market for these lively, open-top cars, with people clamoring for them. This gave many car manufacturers sleepless nights, but soon several were preparing to respond.
If the Z1 was a bit special and experimental for BMW, it was the start of something bigger. In 1994, BMW responded with the introduction of the Z3 (E36/7). It became an instant hit, even making an appearance in a James Bond film. The Z3 was produced from 1995 to 2002 and even got a sibling, the distinctive Z3 Coupé, in 1999 (E36/8). Both models had a traditional rear-wheel-drive setup. Engines ranged from inline-four and inline-six engines, from 1.8 L to 3.2 L, with power outputs from 116 hp to 321 hp. The most powerful engine was found in the M version. Transmission options included five- and six-speed manuals, as well as four- and five-speed automatics.
In April 1999, the Z3 received a facelift, featuring a redesigned rear end, some changes to the engine lineup, and updates to the interior details.
A total of 279,273 Z3 Roadsters and 17,815 Z3 Coupés were produced.
