"A BMW worth sinking your teeth into during the dark, cold winter months. A good candidate for a fine restoration where you can set the level of ambition yourself"

Beschreibung

A car first registered in April 1978. After a few owners over a period of approximately 8 years, it ended up with a man in Katrineholm in 1986, purchased from a car dealer in Nyköping. At that time, the modest odometer reading was 61,740 km. The car was used sometimes frequently and sometimes sporadically, and was always stored in the heated garage of the house during this long period of ownership. It was insured as a classic car through membership in what was then Sveriges fordonshistoriska klubb. In 2005, the son took over the car, at an odometer reading of 131,320 km, and he remains the owner of the car to this day. During this time, the car was stored in a dry space and was only driven during the lighter months of the year. The car is still stored at this location just outside Vingåker. The car comes with inspection records from 1984 up to 2021, along with various receipts.

There is quite a bit to address regarding the car. The body, an engine that is not cooling properly, and a complete interior that nonetheless requires a fair amount of love.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch

The engine does not cool as it should. It gets hot rather quickly and tends to boil over. The head gasket was replaced approximately 25,000 km ago. According to experts, the cause may be a clogged radiator or a cooling system in need of bleeding. Common on this engine. After only a short test drive, most things on the car appear to work. The brakes need to be lubricated or rebuilt. Short clutch travel, one right-side power window that sticks, and the sunroof cannot be closed. The check panel in the car has uncertain functionality. Not all instruments have been tested. Working locks and two sets of keys.

  • Zustand Interieur

Full leather upholstery, though in need of conditioning/recoloring. Carpets and door panels in usable condition. Dirty inside, but by no means an impossible project to take on.

  • Zustand Exterieur

Numerous rust spots scattered across the car (see photos). Dull and scratched hood. Rust damage in the front wheel housing, lower section of the left fender. Good chrome on the bumpers, though some minor blemishes are present. Glass surfaces in usable condition.

  • Zustand gesamt

The impression of this car is that a classic such as this should be well worth restoring. Prices for this model rise annually
