Beschreibung

The car has been in the family since 1974. An American cousin wanted to visit the family in Sweden for the first time. He took a flight to Germany, went into a car dealer and bought a 1969 Volkswagen 1300. Then he made a road trip through Europe to his relatives in Sweden. After spending the summer with his relatives in Värmland, he was given a ride to the airport and the car remained in Sweden. The idea was to come more times and visit. The car was started occasionally and driven around the family farm. In between, it has been stored in the barn's loge. Since the 1980s, the engine has only been turned around by hand every year and the car has been decommissioned. The car comes with a spare wheel, purchase documents and a German registration certificate. The registration plates on the car are the former German export plates.
The meter setting has caused us a bit of a headache. It has 19320 km on it. These gauges turn around and start at zero when ten thousand miles are reached. The car feels very intact and appears to be in original condition apart from the early repaint and newly fitted steps. The car has not been driven in traffic since 1974. We are confused about the mileage, but note that the car was in traffic for a few years until the shutdown and that the odometer may have gone around a revolution.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car runs fine in the engine and gearbox. It is equipped with a 1300 cc 40 hp engine and four-speed gearbox. The brakes don't work well and need to be fixed. The tyres are from the 1970s with dry cracks and need to be replaced. They have only done a start-up service to be able to test drive the car. You can therefore expect that the car requires service and review before it is put into traffic.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The car had a seat cover when it was bought in Germany in 1974. We have tried to lift the cover a bit to see the original interior. The little we saw appeared to be in good condition, we didn't want to rip the upholstery cover which has a good fit, so the full original interior is therefore not seen. The headliner is good, there is a small hole that can be seen in the picture. Stylish door panels, carpets and dashboard.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

Very well maintained body, the car has been stored in an airy loge since the 1970s. The bottom plate was heavily rustproofed before setting it down. In connection with this, the steps were dismantled and new steps have been fitted. The car has a repaint from the 1970s. We think it was the car company that sold the car to the Swedish American who had it repainted. The paintwork has survived storage well. There is some surface rust at the bottom of the wings and on the right door and some minor rust blisters in a few places on the car. See the pictures. The bumpers have some rust spots. The car has not had a valet beyond cleaning and a wash since it was picked up in the summer of 2022. We, therefore, believe that it has the potential to be much nicer. During the time in the barn, something has fallen onto the car. There is a dent at the right C-pillar. There is also a dent on the right door which probably occurred at the same time. See the pictures.

  • Zustand gesamt:

Rare, unworn original condition with only a simple repaint issued in 1973. The car is untouched between 1975 to 2022 and only started a few times. The buyer himself must fix the Swedish Registeration. The German registration documents are included. For German buyers, these documents can probably be used directly, without a registration inspection. Sold unregistered at auction without responsibility for the registration process.

Säljs oregistrerad. Köpare får själv registrera in bilen.
