Beschreibung

This Mini Cooper was restored by the seller several years ago. It is upgraded with an engine from its slightly newer relative the 1275 GT with a sharper camshaft, MD276 M and aluminium valve cover. The brakes are also adapted for the larger engine. There are 7.5-inch front brake discs with larger pads adapted to the discs. At the rear, it is equipped with aluminium Minifin brake drums with an inch widening. A brake servo is also fitted to bring the car to a stop more easily. Although those who are used to driving a fast mini know that you don’t need to brake in front of obstacles, you only need to steer away from them. To be able to do this manoeuvre quickly and smoothly, a leather-covered MotoLita-type sports steering wheel has replaced the narrow and slippery bakelite steering wheel. Another step has been taken to make cornering more efficient and safe and that is to fit a bucket seat with a look that was common in 1960s rallies and racing cabs. An original driver's seat with new gold brocade/red vinyl upholstery is included. Wing flares by Wood & Pickett type from the 1970s with aluminium wheels. Two stylish Lucas extra lights illuminate the darkness.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

    Works well in engine and drivetrain. Energetic and alert.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    The interior is very nice and well-maintained. The instrument panel and hat shelf are in very nice condition.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    A professional repaint was done in the early 2000s. There is a small paint imperfection behind the right door on the rear wing in front of the wheel. The chrome and rubber seals are also in good condition. The floor is a bit uneven, see pictures.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    A good, ready-to-drive Mini Cooper with a 1275 cc engine and upgraded brakes in very nice condition.

Fakten zum Modell

De tillverkades under BMC:s paraply med namnen Austin och Morris samt lyxversionerna Wolseley och Riley. Det kallades för "badge engineering” eftersom man i stort bara bytte lite namnskyltar och grillar. Den första hundkojan eller Mini som de kallades för i övriga världen presenterades 1959. Den var revolutionerande tackvare sin smarta och platsbesparande konstruktion som Alec Issigonis var ansvarig för. Issigonis tanke var att det skulle vara en enkel och billig bil med bra vägegenskaper. Det blev det också. En som verkligen uppskattade bilen var John Cooper som på den tiden drev ett racingstall med formelbilar i högsta ligan. Han använde själv BMC-motorer i dessa och visste dess potential. En tanke var född. John Cooper kontaktade Alec Issigonis som inte alls var intresserad av att ha en vassare motor i sin kära mini. Han ansåg att den var en bil för folket och inte ett tävlingsredskap som John Cooper ville ha den till.

1961 fick tillslut John Cooper ändå som han ville och en uppförstorad, 997cc (57 hk) variant av den ursprungliga 850 (37 hk) motorn togs fram. Nya Mini Cooper var därmed född. Cooper fick en annorlunda klädsel samt skivbromsar. De hade också en avvikande färg på taket. En vassare variant presenterades 1963 och kom att byggas i en kortare serie. Det var Cooper S 1071cc som även fick större och kraftigare skivbromsar. 1964 hände det mycket. Tre nya motorvarianter togs fram. Cooper S 1275cc och 970cc samt en mer civiliserad motor för gatan för 998cc för den vanliga Coopern. Skälet till att man tog fram så många varianter av motorer var de olika klassindelningarna baserade på motorvolym som användes vid biltävlingar. Det fanns klasser för bilar upp till 850 cc, 1000 cc, 1150 cc och 1300 cc. Det fanns alltså en mini för varje klass.
