The car was delivered to its first Swedish owner in July 1998. An owner in northern Småland who used the car regularly likely accounted for the majority of the mileage before the previous owner bought it in 2018 with a project build in mind. Instead, however, the car ended up sitting for several years. The current owner has known the previous one for a long time and eventually took over the car and put it back on the road. According to the current owner – who has worked extensively with this model over the years – the many failed inspections in the registry are most likely due to sticking rear brakes. "They're always a problem, it doesn't matter if it's an early sixties car or one from 1998," he says. He serviced the car in 2025, which also passed its most recent inspection on 2025-09-10.

Fakten zum Modell
In 1998, the classic Mini was in the final stages of its legendary production run, but it was far from forgotten. Under the ownership of the Rover Group (then controlled by BMW), the original 1959 Mini design had been refined into what was internally known as the Mark VII generation, introduced in late 1996. This late version of the Mini Cooper combined the car's compact design with modern updates to meet the stricter demands of the era. Under the hood sat the classic 1.3-liter A-series engine, now equipped with Twin Point Injection and a front-mounted radiator, producing 63 hp. Safety had also received a significant boost with the introduction of a driver's airbag and side-impact protection in the doors. Comfort and style were elevated through more luxurious details such as leather seats, a genuine walnut dashboard, and the characteristic white racing stripes on the hood, a nod to the car's proud 1960s rally heritage. The 1998 model was also offered in the popular "Sports Pack" trim, which gave the car extra-wide fenders, 13-inch Minilite wheels, and auxiliary driving lights up front. Despite the design being nearly 40 years old, Rover managed in 1998 to keep the raw, kart-like driving pleasure alive and transform the British people's car into a modern and exclusive lifestyle statement, just before the Longbridge factory finally ended production of the original Mini in 2000.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
