The current owner bought this MGA in 1965. At the time, it was only four years old, and the couple had no idea that it would accompany them through nearly an entire lifetime. Almost immediately, they were drawn into the vibrant MG community. They became involved in the Stockholm MG Club, joined the board, and soon became part of the driving force behind the club’s activities. Rallies, gatherings, events — year after year, they were there, not only as participants but also as organizers and devoted enthusiasts.
In 1967, they embarked on a journey that would become unforgettable: their honeymoon. The couple drove the MGA across the Alps and continued along the beautiful coastal road down to Dubrovnik in what was then Yugoslavia. The car ran like a dream, and the trip became a memory for life.
In the years that followed, the MGA continued to be their faithful travel companion. They took part in rallies in England, Germany, and the Netherlands and made countless trips to Denmark with the car.
“When it comes to restorations, it’s hard to keep track of everything that’s been done over the years,” says the widow. Her husband replaced the engine several times, but the original engine still exists and comes with the car, along with several other MGA parts such as wheels, side windows, and more (see photos). The most recent major body restoration was carried out in 2017.

The engine was not started at the time of photography, as the fuel pump was uncooperative. The engine turns over on the starter and shows oil pressure. The brake pedal goes to the floor, so the braking system will need attention.

The interior is in used but good condition, showing the typical wear expected on a car that’s over 60 years old.

The paintwork is somewhat worn and dull with various blemishes (see photos). The soft top is functional but shows signs of wear, and the windshield has “bubbling” around the edges (see photos). It appears that the car is missing its washer nozzles. The mounting bracket for the boot lid support has come loose (see photos).

An MGA in nice, usable condition that has nothing to be ashamed of. With a bit of time, effort, and dedication, it could make for an enjoyable winter project in the garage.

Fakten zum Modell
The MGA was MG’s first car to feature truly modern post-war styling. Its predecessor, the MG TF, had roots dating back to before the war — charming, yes, but hopelessly outdated by the early 1950s.
The MG MGA made its world debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1955 and was very well received. For MG, the MGA was a crucial model, produced from 1955 to 1962, when it was succeeded by the MGB.
In the summer of 1961, the final version was introduced — the MGA Mark II. It received a slightly larger engine, 1,622 cc instead of 1,588 cc, and increased power output. Other updates included redesigned rear lights and a subtly revised grille.
In total, over 100,000 MGAs were built, but only 8,719 examples of the Mark II version.

For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
