Chevrolet 4-door sedan Series AC — 1929

Exciting project car that is particularly interesting as it is equipped with a straight 6-cylinder overhead valve engine. The top-of-the-art at that time.

"For modern car enthusiasts, this is somewhat of a forgotten model from automotive history. This car is in need of restoration. It appears to have more potential than what meets the eye at first glance. The fact that the seats are completed is a huge advantage. A disadvantage is that some parts may be missing. Overall, this is an opportunity to buy a partially completed 1930s car at a reasonable price."

Beschreibung

This car is a project vehicle that has been stored indoors since the 1970s. It is particularly interesting because it is equipped with a straight-six overhead valve engine, which was a novelty in 1929. Most competitors at the time still had side-valve engines in their cars. It is claimed that Chevrolet's engine was a contributing factor to Ford's decision to invest in a V8 engine.

The car was first registered in Sweden on June 10, 1929, with the registration number Y4847. It appears that the car was taken off the road during World War II due to gasoline rationing. The next entry in the records indicates that the car changed counties, and on December 14, 1945, the then-owner, Line Worker Ragnar Svensson, registered it again, and the car was assigned the county number AC6907.

In 1977, the car was purchased by a vintage car enthusiast who was a truck driver. The goal was a restoration that would result in a good original appearance. Over the years, vintage car markets and scrap yards were visited in the search for the right parts. The seats were reupholstered with new plush fabric in the correct color. Bumpers and lamp housings were rechromed, a new rubber mat and other additional parts were acquired. The car is partially disassembled. The body has a relatively sound wooden frame, and the body panels have been sanded and primed at some point. The owner has since passed away, and the car is being sold by the estate. The car was never transferred to the new vehicle registry in the mid-1970s. Therefore, it will need to undergo registration inspection when the restoration is complete. The car still retains its old county number. An old registration certificate is available and will accompany the car for originality verification during the registration inspection.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

Equipped with a straight-six overhead valve engine of 3.2 liters with a stated output of 46 horsepower. It has a 3-speed gearbox. The condition of the engine and transmission is unknown.

  • Zustand Interieur:

Newly upholstered plush seats in the correct color are included. The headliner is missing. The instrumentation is available separately and will be included, as shown in the picture. The dashboard itself may possibly be available separately, and we will provide an update if it is.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

The outer roof, made of a material called "pegamoid," is missing. The body structure is constructed with wood and covered with outer sheet metal panels. The body's sheet metal has been partially sanded down and primed many years ago. Some surface rust has reappeared. The wooden frame appears to have held up relatively well. Some disassembled parts are included.

  • Zustand gesamt:

A true vintage car that has been sitting for a long time and exudes the feeling of a barn find. It's suitable for restoration or creative car building projects. Please examine the pictures carefully to get an overview of its condition.
