Eric Nordevalls historty:
2020
In the spring of 2020 Hjulångaren Nordevall AB took over the vessel and Hjulångaren was moved to Norrqvarn in Göta Kanal. In winter 2020-21, Hjulångaren is located in Sjötorp
2012
In May and June 2012, Hjulångaren made an expedition trip to Gothenburg. In July and August the Wheel Steamer made a few trips in Lake Bottensjön och Vättern In September there was another expedition trip. This time to Hjo, Visingsö, Jönköping and Gränna.
2011
In August, Eric Nordedvall II went on a two-week trip to Stockholm to be baptized by H.K.H. Crown Princess Victoria. The baptism was performed on August 29 in gloriously fine weather. In mid-September, the Wheel Steamer was back in its home port of Forsvik.
2009
On June 6, 2009, the Wheel Steamer Eric Nordevall II was launched. In June, it was towed to Motala where the Steam Engine and Steam Boiler were taken on board. After two weeks, the ship was towed back across Lake Vättern to its home port in Forsvik.
1995
The association Forsviks Varv was founded in 1995 with the aim of building the Wheel Steamer Eric Nordevall II. In the same year, the project began with building a replica of the Wheel Steamer Eric Nordevall, which is located at a depth of 45 meters at the island of Jungfrun in Vättern.

1980
During diving and research, the very well-preserved wreck of Eric Nordevall was discovered at a depth of 45 meters in the Vättern. The wreck was then carefully documented with measurements, film and photography.

1856
On June 4, 1856, at noon, the Wheel Steamer Eric Nordevall set out from the harbor at the castle in Vadstena, where passengers were dropped off and picked up and brandy was loaded from the castle's storeroom. Captain Bergström went below deck after roughly an hour and handed over the helm to helmsman Eriksson. Eriksson eventually left the deck to sleep as well. With the words "you can travel as near to the island Jungfrun as you wish," crewman Eliasson was ordered to take over the helm. It was Eliasson's second expedition, and he followed the instructions but ended up on the incorrect side of the island, where he grounded the boat. The weather was calm, and they attempted to escape but were helplessly trapped. As assistance was summoned, persons and cargo were unloaded and transported to Motala. The steam corvettes Föreningen and Santesson arrived two days later, on June 6, to make another effort to release the ship. They eventually got Eric Nordevall off the ground. During the tow to Motala, the vessel took in so much water that the tow cable had to be cut, and the Wheel Steamer sank just north of Jungfrun.
1837
In 1837, i.e. about 180 years ago, the Swedish transport system was revolutionized for the first time when steam engines could drive ships. (Later the steam trains came on the railway). The newly built Wheel Steamer Eric Nordevall was one of these very first engine-driven ships.
In 1837 there was no electricity or mineral oil. We also had no time together and passports were required for longer trips in the country. Sweden had lost Finland in 1809 and joined Norway in 1814. The Göta Canal was recently completed in 1832.
As can be seen from "Det sjette Aftonbladet" from Thursday, July 6, 1837, ship traffic to and from Stockholm was intense.
1836
The paddle steamer Eric Nordevall was built at Hammarsten's shipyard in Norrköping as one of the very first engine-driven vessels to operate on the Göta Canal. Steam engine and steam boiler were built at the Motala workshop.
