Beschreibung
The car in question has been built as a high-quality copy of the Sport. The engine is fully rebuilt, with an exchange crankshaft from Germany, etc. It has a new interior and a Swedish-made rear axle with stronger drive shafts. The car was exhibited at Elmia in 2017 and later at Arvika Fordonsmuseum, among others. The owner has won several awards for the car at shows.
The owner is now choosing to downsize his collection of microcars for health reasons. A spare wheel placed in the engine compartment is included with the car.
Teknische Daten
Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
Equipped with a Sachs two-stroke engine of 191 cc with 4 forward gears and—believe it or not—also 4 reverse gears. According to period information, the output is 10 hp. The engine is fully rebuilt and fitted with a replacement crankshaft from Germany. The exhaust system is of later manufacture and developed by an expert to provide more power, while retaining a completely period-correct appearance. This is estimated to add a full 1 extra horsepower. It may sound like little, but it makes a big difference in hill-climbing ability.
The entire drivetrain has been overhauled; the rear axle is Swedish-made with a stronger driveshaft, developed for improved durability. Starts easily and runs very well. Rebuilt mechanical brakes, new tyres fitted during the restoration, and a new electrical system. Everything works flawlessly. -
Zustand Interieur
Very nice interior, almost like new. A new interior was installed during the restoration. Unfortunately, the steering wheel has developed a few cracks, which is a known weakness on these vehicles. Equipped with an analogue clock, which was available as an accessory. There is also a small lockable glove compartment by the rear seat. The cockpit cover is custom-made and was manufactured in 2024.
-
Zustand Exterieur
Restored body that has been modified into the roadster version of the Sport model. Painted by a well-known expert in Arvika. There are a few small paint scuffs and an occasional stone chip, but otherwise the paintwork is still excellent. Equipped with additional position lights according to the English specifications. Newly manufactured Continental tyres with whitewalls in the correct style and size: 4.00–8".
-
Zustand gesamt
A fully restored and overhauled Messerschmitt microcar. During the restoration it was converted to the rare Sport specification. There are a few minor blemishes as the car has been driven 5,700 km since the restoration was completed in 2017.

Fakten zum Modell
The engine had two sets of breaker points in the ignition system, and to reverse you stopped the engine and then restarted it backwards. This was achieved by pushing the ignition key further into the switch than usual. As a result, the KR200’s sequential gearbox provided the same four gear ratios in reverse as when driving forward.
The KR200 was produced until 1964, when manufacturing ceased. By then production had long since moved to Fritz Fend. Just a year after West Germany joined NATO, Messerschmitt was once again allowed to build aircraft. Messerschmitt’s microcars were produced both as coupés and convertibles, as well as in a handful of examples of the KR 200 Sport roadster.
