The current owner purchased the car just over a year ago but has since acquired a sibling, a 500 SEC, which will now take center stage. The most recent approved inspection was on 2022-10-12, but the car will be delivered with a fresh inspection.

Zustand technisch
The engine is running a bit rough and the valves are ticking; an overhaul and service of the machinery is needed. Furthermore, the owner shows the engine compartment and apologizes for its finish. Here, a new owner can work wonders when the mood strikes. The gearbox willingly shifts up when accelerating, and the driving feel is somewhat American in a W116 with its steering and large steering wheel.

Zustand Interieur
Nice and fresh plush interior and carpets along with good wood inserts, ceiling and door sides that give an inviting impression. A couple of discreet repairs on the driver's seat. The sunroof works fine and so do the front electric windows. At the time of documentation, the rear ones were not working, but the owner was going to address that issue immediately. Furthermore, unsurprisingly, the AC is out of order, but the regular heat and ventilation are blowing well.

Zustand Exterieur
Older repaint with some visible unsuccessful filler at the left rear bumper end and a couple of small paint chips with surface rust at the edge of the sunroof and by the rear window. However, it is presentable from a distance and does not embarrass itself. Older tires with dry cracks, mostly at the front, on classic Mercedes accessory rims and an original baroque rim as a spare wheel.

A cost-effective patinated overall impression and a very nice car for the money. But also a large engine that needs a bit of care.

Fakten zum Modell
The interior came in various finishes, including fabric, plush, and leather. As always, Mercedes emphasized safety, and the W116 was considered a very safe car for its time. The 280 SE's injection system initially featured D-Jetronic but was soon replaced with the simpler K-Jetronic system.
The W116 model remained in production until 1980, with a total of 473,035 units manufactured. Of these, just over 1,300 remain in Sweden today.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
