Beschreibung
The current owner purchased the car in 1994 and began a thorough restoration that lasted five years. The entire process is documented in a detailed diary with text, drawings, and notes—a valuable record of the car’s provenance.
Over the 30-plus years that the car has been in the current owner's care, it has been driven less than 3,000 kilometers. It simply needs to stretch its legs a bit more, even though its current condition is at a show-level standard. The most recent—and thus final—technical inspection was completed on July 19, 2016.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
The engine has been meticulously rebuilt by the well-known and highly regarded Jaguar specialist Thomas Oskarsson, and with a tasteful stainless steel exhaust system, the car delivers a distinctly sporty six-cylinder sound.
The original Moss gearbox—which was standard in these cars and many other British models, and has caused plenty of frustration for owners over the years—has been replaced with a modern five-speed unit sourced from the UK. The exact manufacturer is unknown to the owner, but unlike the original, it operates smoothly and with full synchronization.
A charming detail underneath the car is that the leather-covered protection for the leaf springs is still intact. -
Zustand Interieur
Exceptionally beautiful red interior, crafted with artisanal quality in the leather and soft carpets, complemented by period-correct Luke four-point harnesses in an authentic silver-grey shade.
The speedometer dial is marked in kilometers, but the needle and odometer read in miles—the owner has verified the readings multiple times using both GPS and analog measurement. -
Zustand Exterieur
Deep black paint in beautifully polished, high-gloss condition, applied to a bare-metal body with only lead used in the preparation work. The paint was applied by an experienced and skilled craftsman in Gothenburg who, in addition to tireless and meticulous sanding, laid down a total of 12 coats of paint on the car.
-
Zustand gesamt
Objectively, the overall impression is one that in many ways defines the feel of a restoration that is better than new. Over the years, the car has led a discreet existence within Jaguar circles, without making any major appearances on that scene.

Fakten zum Modell
The initial series of the XK120 featured an aluminum body over a wooden frame. Production later shifted to steel bodywork to meet high demand. The car was offered in three body styles: Roadster (Open Two-Seater), Fixed Head Coupé (FHC), and Drophead Coupé (DHC).
The XK120 quickly gained popularity not only on the road but also in motorsport, competing successfully at venues like Le Mans and other notable races. Its design, engine, and impressive performance for the era helped cement Jaguar’s reputation as a maker of both sporty and luxurious automobiles.
Production of the XK120 continued until 1954, when it was succeeded by the further-developed XK140 and later the XK150.
