Beschreibung

This car is being auctioned on behalf of an estate. We don't know much about the car, but what we do know is that the man who owned it bought it in 2019, and since then, it has been unused in the garage. He liked this model because he had a 1600 as his first car, both as a "Matchbox" car and eventually as his first real car. He also previously had another VW 1600. It's in a partially renovated condition, and it probably has never been in bad shape. There is some work to be done to get it really nice again, but it's perfectly suited as a rolling project. The car's last inspection was in 2016.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

    The engine started at the time of photography but stopped when the car was backed out of the garage. The engine has a noise issue, sounding more like something loose than bearing or piston noises. An Eberspächer is included separately, but its function is unknown. The car is equipped with a main power switch.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    The interior is in somewhat worn condition. The seat cover was removed from the driver's seat, revealing repaired damage to the original upholstery underneath, as shown in the picture. The instrument panel is in good condition. There is a small hole in the headliner, as seen in the picture. A radio is included separately, but its function is unknown.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    Old repaint job. There are scratch marks and some minor dents, primarily on the passenger door. Chrome trim pieces are included separately, as shown in the picture.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    This VW has probably never been in poor condition and is in a state that suits well as a rolling project, or one can invest some time and money to make it really nice again. Based on experience, it should be relatively easy to get it roadworthy for inspection.

Fakten zum Modell

Volkswagen Typ 3 was initially called the 1500 and later the 1600. The Typ 3 was available in three body styles - the Notchback, Fastback, and the wagon variant called the Squareback, also known as the Variant. As usual, it featured a rear-mounted air-cooled engine, rear-wheel drive, and torsion bar suspension.

The pontoon body style was introduced in 1959, and when production began in August 1961, it initially came as the Notchback, followed by the Variant in February of the following year. The coupe version TL arrived in August 1965, coinciding with the debut of the 1600 engine. Volkswagen's plan was for the coupe to replace the Notchback, but in several parts of the world, the sedan was preferred, and all models remained in production until it was discontinued in 1973.

In 1968, the Typ 3 became the first car from Germany to have electronic fuel injection as standard. The model received a facelift in 1970 when the front end was extended by 115 millimeters, improving cargo capacity. At the same time, new larger bumpers and taillights were introduced.

Although the Typ 3 had much more modern lines compared to the Typ 1, it never became as popular. However, they gained popularity on rally tracks, as they were relatively agile, durable, and handled well, which is why few cars remain today.

  • At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
  • During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
