The list of parts replaced or refurbished because they did not meet his standards is extensive. Suffice it to say that the restoration was carried out with exceptional attention to detail. The car was completely disassembled, and the body was entrusted to a highly regarded paint shop in Åmål. The body shell, doors, and panels were painted separately to ensure the highest possible finish. Remarkably, no rust repairs were required prior to painting – an exceedingly rare distinction for a classic Saab.
During reassembly, the owner spent two full working days meticulously adjusting the doors, applying techniques learned through specialized factory training during his time with Saab. The result is exceptional panel fit and the solid, vault-like door closure these cars are renowned for. Be sure to watch the accompanying video, where the doors are demonstrated.
The restoration was completed in 2019. Following completion, the car was only driven on a handful of short outings before being returned to garage storage. It has now been recommissioned and recently passed inspection without remarks. The Saab is approved for road use until April 30, 2028. The odometer shows just over 120,000 kilometres (approximately 75,000 miles), although the accuracy of this figure cannot be verified.
Included with the car are the spare wheel, original jack, and owner’s handbook.
Please note: The registration plates TURBO79 are personal registration plates issued by the Swedish Transport Agency and are not included in the sale. The vehicle will be delivered wearing its original registration plates, AMF 602.

Zustand technisch
During the restoration, the engine was thoroughly inspected and found to be in such good condition that a rebore was unnecessary. A cylinder hone and new piston rings were sufficient to bring it up to standard. A brand-new turbocharger was installed, along with a new fuel injection distributor head and a large number of hard-to-find NOS (New Old Stock) components.
The engine runs beautifully, free from any unwanted noises, and delivers strong performance on the road. Originally equipped with a four-speed gearbox, the car has since been upgraded with a five-speed transmission, providing more relaxed and enjoyable cruising at higher speeds.
The braking system was comprehensively renewed during the restoration, with all major components replaced. The owner also succeeded in sourcing an original Saab Turbo exhaust system, a rare and desirable detail.
The functionality of the headlamp wipers has not been verified; please refer to the owner’s comments for further information. A new starter battery was fitted in June 2026. -
Zustand Interieur
The distinctive sport interior, exclusive to the Turbo and EMS models, remains one of this car’s highlights. The dashboard features both a turbo boost gauge and a tachometer, reinforcing the purposeful character of Saab’s performance flagship.
The interior is believed to be original to the car, with the exception of the headliner, which has been professionally refurbished using the correct material sourced from the Saab Club’s parts inventory. Overall, the cabin presents very well, showing only light signs of use. The driver’s seat has minor wear, and a small repair has been carried out to the seat backrest – please refer to the photographs.
The two auxiliary VDO gauges mounted in the center console are currently not connected. A period-correct Pioneer stereo is fitted; the cassette player has been tested and is operational, while the functionality of the radio reception has not been verified.
The car is also equipped with a sunroof. This particular type was listed in Saab’s official accessories catalogue, although it is not known exactly when it was installed. It may very well have been fitted when the car was new or shortly thereafter. -
Zustand Exterieur
This Saab has been comprehensively restored and presents in excellent overall condition. The paintwork is finished in the distinctive and highly sought-after Marble White colour, a special shade that shifts character depending on the light. In direct sunlight it appears bright white, while under different conditions it takes on a subtle greenish hue.
The bodywork and paint finish are of a high standard throughout. The side windows are green-tinted as originally specified; the right-hand side window has a few minor scratches, as shown in the photographs.
The car is fitted with Inca alloy wheels, all of which are in excellent condition without notable blemishes. The tyres are recently fitted budget-brand items with minimal wear. -
Zustand gesamt
A beautifully restored Saab 99 Turbo finished in the rare Marble White colour. A car that captures everything enthusiasts love about Saab’s golden era – distinctive design, turbocharged performance, and character in abundance. Few examples evoke the same sense of desire among Saab enthusiasts as this one.

Introduced for the 1978 model year, the 99 Turbo combined aggressive styling with impressive performance. Its turbocharged 2.0-litre engine produced 145 horsepower, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 197 km/h – figures that placed it among the fastest family cars available at the time.
The Saab 99 Turbo also occupies a unique place in motorsport history. Saab had enjoyed considerable rally success throughout the 1970s, and in 1979 Stig Blomqvist drove a 99 Turbo to victory in the Swedish Rally. The achievement was historic, marking the first time a turbocharged car had won a round of the World Rally Championship and cementing the 99 Turbo’s reputation as a true performance icon.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
