Beschreibung
His search eventually led him to Malmö, where he purchased the car in 1996 from a gentleman who had previously lived in California and brought the car to Sweden as part of his personal belongings when relocating. Shortly thereafter, the owner and his son embarked on an extensive restoration. The floors were replaced, numerous chrome and trim components were renewed, and the car was repainted throughout. A few years later, the engine was also rebuilt. Since the completion of the restoration, the car has covered approximately 3,000 kilometres.
Following the restoration, the car was used very sparingly. Most of its outings were to the Tuesday evening MG Club gatherings in Storvik. When those meetings eventually came to an end, the owner’s interest gradually faded as well, and in recent years it has primarily been his son who has ensured that the car is exercised with a few summer drives each season.
Today, this is a highly appealing California-import MG with a well-documented history. Restored during the mid-1990s and driven very little since, it remains a charming and enjoyable classic. As the vehicle is exempt from periodic inspection requirements in Sweden, it is ready to be enjoyed as is and presents in attractive driver-quality condition. For those seeking to elevate the overall presentation even further, a new convertible top would be the perfect finishing touch.
Included with the car are the side screens, the original steering wheel, various documentation, and a tonneau cover that has never been installed.

Fakten zum Modell
Powering the MGA was BMC’s well-known B-Series engine, which was also used in several other British Motor Corporation models. The original MGA, introduced in 1955, featured a 1,500 cc engine producing around 70 horsepower.
In the summer of 1958, MG unveiled the eagerly anticipated MGA Twin Cam. Engine displacement had increased to nearly 1,600 cc, and the new engine featured twin overhead camshafts. Output rose dramatically to 110 horsepower at 6,700 rpm, making the Twin Cam one of the most advanced and capable British sports cars of its day.
The new engine soon developed a reputation for fragility, particularly due to a tendency to suffer piston failures. Despite considerable efforts, the factory never fully resolved the issue, and production of the Twin Cam ceased in the summer of 1960. In later years, however, the underlying problems have largely been addressed, and most surviving engines have since been upgraded with the necessary improvements.
To cope with the significantly increased performance, the Twin Cam was equipped with stronger disc-type wheels and Dunlop disc brakes on all four corners. These upgrades were well justified, as contemporary road tests reported a top speed approaching 180 km/h (112 mph), an impressive figure for the era.
