Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs smoothly and quietly in both engine and drivetrain. A calm test drive in suburban and urban environments showed that handling, steering, clutch, gearbox, and brakes all function well and reliably.
The car has not been inspected on a lift, but it has been treated with rust protection, and from what was visible underneath, everything looked good. -
Zustand Interieur
Interior in well-preserved original condition with fine upholstery and good comfort in the seats and rear bench. Door panels, rubber mats, and headliner are also original and in nicely maintained condition. The steering wheel has been replaced due to a crack in the original (which is included). Controls, dashboard, and gauges are in good and functional condition. Comes with many charming period-correct accessories. The Blaupunkt radio is working.

Zustand Exterieur
A repaint in the original dove gray with a greenish tone, carried out in the 1990s, still maintains a beautiful, glossy finish. There is some mild wear consistent with use. Glass, chrome, trim, emblems, accessories, and lighting details are all in nicely preserved condition. The wheels are attractive with chrome hubcaps and diagonal tires in good shape. The engine bay and luggage compartments are similarly well maintained.

It’s impossible to resist this beloved Swedish classic in Special trim—the nostalgia factor is high. Its history and condition, combined with a beautiful color combination and many fine period-correct accessories, make this car a particularly fine and historically significant collector’s piece in Swedish motor history.

Fakten zum Modell
Nevertheless, production got underway, and the 444 made its way onto our roads. Not only on Swedish roads, as Volvo also started exporting its new family car, primarily to neighboring countries, but eventually to Europe, the USA, and other parts of the world. A total of 196,005 units were produced before production ended. The new Amazon began selling in 1957, and the following year, the 444 was upgraded to the 544 model.
The PV444C/CS models were produced from August 1951 to July 1952. They were offered in the same colors as the previous year: black and dove gray. Few updates were made after the many improvements introduced the year before. However, five-bolt wheels and tire size 5.90 x 15 were introduced, and the front ventilation windows were slightly narrowed. It was also the second and final year for roof-mounted indicators, known as Fixlight but colloquially called “Takgök” (Roof Cuckoo). Production totaled 3,500 C models and 4,500 CS models.
The Special model, as before, featured gray/red upholstery, bumper horns, trim on the fenders, chrome decoration on the hood sides and “hood ornament,” hubcaps, and whitewall tires.
