Beschreibung
The original service booklet has been missing since the importation, but the owner has maintained his own detailed driving and service log in a binder together with all other documentation. Public records incorrectly state a differing odometer reading during an inspection in 2014 and indicate 61,000 kilometers; the correct mileage is the one stated above and no other.
The most recent approved inspection was carried out very recently, on April 23, 2026.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
A car that has been driven sparingly over the past 23 years, yet deliberately exercised for a few hundred kilometers every year. Combined with meticulous care, even an advanced British V12 can be preserved in a reliable and mechanically excellent condition. The engine responds beautifully, the gearbox shifts smoothly, and the chassis behaves exactly as it should, complemented by the correct feel through the brakes. Surprisingly impressive presentation in the engine bay as well.
-
Zustand Interieur
An inviting interior trimmed in fine blue leather, complemented by glossy and attractive wood inserts. The luggage compartment is clean and fresh, featuring its light gray carpeting. The climate control system blows slightly cool air and appears to be sealed, but according to the owner it should be recharged and checked over.
-
Zustand Exterieur
Original paintwork in fine and well-preserved condition. The convertible top itself is clean and intact; only the tonneau cover has developed some discoloration or appears to have had something spilled on it. The twin round U.S.-spec headlights are said to have been ordered with the car when it was delivered new in Germany. Newer tires with good tread are fitted to attractive and undamaged original wheels. The spare wheel appears unused and also matches the specification listed in the car’s original German delivery/type certificate: Goodyear Eagle NCT.

Zustand gesamt
A car model is often never better than when it has reached the very end of its production cycle. This is an excellent example of that. But a car is also never better than the care it has received from new — and this car is an outstanding example in that regard as well. A genuinely exceptional overall impression.

Fakten zum Modell
However, demand for a convertible was strong in the crucial U.S. market, leading Jaguar to introduce the XJ-SC in 1983. This was a targa-style compromise featuring a fixed roof bar and removable panels designed to preserve the body’s structural rigidity. It was only after extensive chassis redesign work — including the addition of more than one hundred unique sheet-metal components to strengthen the structure — that the fully fledged convertible could finally be introduced, equipped with a fully automatic fabric roof designed and manufactured by coachbuilder Karmann.
The model was initially offered with Jaguar’s renowned 5.3-liter V12 engine, giving the car a refined combination of quiet luxury, power, and comfort befitting a true Grand Tourer. During the major facelift in 1991, when the model name officially changed from XJ-S to XJS, the styling was modernized with new taillights and the interior received a substantial update. At the same time, a more fuel-efficient 4.0-liter inline-six engine was introduced and quickly became popular alongside the V12, which was later enlarged to 6.0 liters.
Production of the XJS ended in 1996 after more than twenty years in production.
