"There’s something undeniably impressive about inspecting and climbing around on a Myrslok. This is serious machinery that showcases what Swedish automotive and military engineering was capable of during the 1960s to 1980s. This particular example is not only in good condition but also fully functional. Both the crane and towing power remain operational and reliable."

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

Starts easily and runs well. While we haven’t test-driven it ourselves, we could both see and hear that it sounded as it should. A careful demonstration of both driving and crane operation indicated that everything functions very well. The various control stations for operating the vehicle and crane are also in working order.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The interior is rugged, with most components appearing to function well. During inspection in rainy weather, the windshield wipers were hesitant, but this should be an easy fix. Steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges are in good working order overall. However, the fuel gauge needs attention. A roof hatch is also present.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

Rugged and in original condition, showing normal wear consistent with its age and service use.

  • Zustand gesamt:

This beast might not be the ideal fit for a typical suburban driveway—but for those with a passion for heavy industrial and military historical vehicles, this Myrslok is both fascinating and compelling. Its condition, history, and sheer presence are truly imposing.

Fakten zum Modell

The so-called Myrslok was manufactured between 1960 and 1962. Equipped with a direct-injected, turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine producing 220 horsepower, it was a powerful and rugged vehicle. It featured six-wheel drive with differential locks on all three axles.

A total of 440 units were produced, in various configurations including cargo carrier, bridge-layer, recovery vehicle, and crane truck. With a curb weight exceeding 11 tons, it could carry five tons on the flatbed and tow an artillery piece weighing over 10 tons. Initially, these vehicles were used by the artillery to tow 15.5 cm howitzers.

As they were gradually phased out from artillery service, more than 300 units were refurbished and modified in the second half of the 1980s. At that point, they were transferred to the Engineer Corps, where they were used for deploying and retrieving bridge foundations when establishing temporary crossings, as well as serving as heavy-duty recovery vehicles.
