"Renovation in an 80s style."

Beschreibung

A MkII Mini, not very common these days. There are more MkI and MkIII Minis on the road than MkII. This car has been renovated in an 1980s style, which means welding repairs were primarily done to pass inspection and make it roadworthy. Originally blue, according to Transportstyrelsen it is now registered as red, but currently it’s green. There’s some work needed to bring it back to good condition, but it’s worth it since it’s a Mini MkII. Restoring it to original may be challenging, but as a nice everyday car, definitely achievable. The Mini needs a thorough service and inspection. There’s work to be done, but for someone handy, this shouldn’t be a major issue, see the pictures. The Mini passed inspection in 2020.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car is drivable, but much of the Mini needs attention. For instance, the doors are sagging slightly, and the engine was not running on all cylinders at the time of photography. The engine, which includes the twin 1.25” SU carburetors, is likely sourced from an MG 1100. The Hydrolastic suspension needs to be pumped. The charging light only goes out at high revs.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The interior is in a used and worn condition. The seats are from a Mini Clubman.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

The paintwork has room for improvement, showing some small dents and damages. The chrome trims along the body sides are not securely attached as they should be. The grill is incorrect for a MkII; it belongs to an Austin MkI. Please refer to the pictures for details.

  • Zustand gesamt:

A Mini in a condition that can be improved for someone handy, after all, it’s still a Mini MkII.

Fakten zum Modell

Alec Issigonis was the mind behind the Austin/Morris Mini, known in Sweden as the “Hundkoja” (Dog Kennel). The Mini was introduced in August 1959 and became very popular in Sweden among the first countries. The world’s first Mini club, the Mini Seven Club, was formed in Sweden in 1961, a month before its counterpart in the UK. In 1961, a tuned version called the Mini Cooper was introduced. Later variants included a van, pickup, Mini Moke, Riley Elf, and Wolseley Hornet, which were luxury models featuring leather upholstery, wood paneling, and upright grilles.

A more powerful Mini was developed primarily for racing, the Cooper S, which became so popular that it was produced with three engine sizes to fit into various racing classes based on engine displacement, with the largest being 1275 cc.
