It starts easily and sounds good. The car has not been serviced for over 12 years, and a new owner will need to check the brakes, carry out an oil service, and perform a general inspection. At the time of documentation it was snowy, and it was not possible to drive any longer distance without risking getting stuck on hard summer tyres, but a short drive around the house worked fine. At some point the car was fitted with a larger engine. When the swap was carried out is not documented, but it is said to be the engine from boxer Ingemar Johansson’s Jaguar. This is therefore hearsay, as told by the long-term owner’s son, but it is a fun little detail if true.

Zustand Interieur
The front seat leather cushions have long been protected by warm seat covers. Otherwise, the interior is fresh and tidy, with the headliner, door panels, carpets, and rear seat all in good condition. The wood veneer around the glove compartment has a patinated—yet actually attractive—slightly cracked lacquer finish. The left rear power window operates a bit sluggishly.

Zustand Exterieur
Heavily rustproofed and therefore also in good structural condition compared to many of its siblings from the same model years. The paintwork has minor marks and stone chips, but gives a pleasant, presentable, and usable overall impression. A fine and undamaged underbody, as far as can be seen with a camera and by crouching in the snow. Older budget tyres with good tread, fitted to original accessory wheels.

Zustand gesamt
The history and maintenance carried out over nearly three decades by the same owner, together with the very limited use by later owners, have also resulted in a sensible and well-presented usable condition.

Fakten zum Modell
Two engine options were initially offered: 2.8 and 4.2 litres, with the latter proving the more popular. The following year, a more luxurious version was introduced as the Daimler Sovereign. When fitted with a vinyl roof, it also carried the additional Vanden Plas designation. In 1972, a twelve-cylinder version, the XJ12, was launched along with a long-wheelbase L version. The following year, these features were also introduced on the Daimler variant. In 1973, the smaller 2.8-litre engine was discontinued and was later replaced by a 3.4-litre unit a couple of years later.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
