"A beautifully restored TR, renovated with a strong sense for originality, with several enhancements made to improve driving performance. A wonderful car with the classic straight-six engine."

Beschreibung

A car originally sold new in southern Sweden. After a number of years, it found its way to the Stockholm area. In 2014, it was purchased by an owner in Umeå, who had it largely restored about 7–8 years ago. Several upgrades beyond standard were carried out, including a stainless steel fuel tank, improved fuel pump, walnut dashboard, stainless steel exhaust system, power steering, and more — all aimed at ensuring greater reliability and improved drivability.
The car comes with both a fine soft top and a hardtop. A thick binder with documentation is included, containing receipts, inspection records, and other interesting papers.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car is in excellent mechanical condition. It was given permanent inspection approval in the spring of 2018 following the restoration. All technical functions are in proper working order. Power steering has been installed for improved drivability. The four-speed gearbox engages smoothly (no overdrive). New tires were fitted during the restoration.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The interior is in very good condition and has been well preserved since the restoration. There is a very small blemish on the driver’s seat. Attractive carpets and seats throughout. The walnut dashboard, according to the owner, deviates from the original specification, though in our opinion it looks much better. A roll bar is fitted, which can be removed if desired. Red seatbelts are also installed.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

Good overall condition of the paintwork, with only the occasional scratch or dent, none of which significantly affect the overall impression. The soft top is in good condition, though it was not fitted at the time of inspection.

  • Zustand gesamt:

Overall, it is in excellent condition. A fantastic car to drive – fun and quick with the straight-six engine, and with superb handling.

Fakten zum Modell

Triumph TR6 is a British sports car produced by the Triumph Motor Company between 1968 and 1976. It is one of the most popular models in the TR series, renowned for its blend of style, performance, and driving enjoyment.

The TR series from Triumph began in the 1950s and quickly became a favorite among sports car enthusiasts. The TR5, introduced in 1967, was the first in the series to feature a six-cylinder engine.

The TR6 debuted in 1968 as the successor to the TR5. Styled by Giovanni Michelotti, it had a more robust and aggressive appearance than its predecessors. It quickly earned a reputation for strong performance and a distinctly sporty character.

Powered by a 2.5-liter straight-six engine producing between 106 and 150 horsepower (depending on version and market), the TR6 could reach a top speed of around 200 km/h. Its rear-wheel-drive layout and well-balanced chassis delivered an engaging driving experience.

The TR6 was easily recognizable by its distinctive front grille, long bonnet, and classic sports car silhouette. It was offered as a convertible, with a simple yet purposeful interior designed around the driver’s needs.

A major success in both the UK and the US, the TR6 was especially well-received in America, where it became known as an affordable sports car with impressive style and performance.

In total, around 94,000 units of the TR6 were built between 1968 and 1976. Production ended as Triumph shifted focus to other models, responding to changing market conditions and growing competition.

Today, the TR6 is a sought-after classic among collectors and enthusiasts. Its sporty performance, timeless design, and historical significance make it a regular star at classic car shows and events.

In short, the Triumph TR6 stands as an iconic sports car that captures a key era in British motoring history, blending style, performance, and a rich motorsport heritage into a beloved classic worldwide.
