Mercedes' finest and most expensive car of its time. This well-maintained model was sold new in Sweden. The current owner has had the car since 2017. The Mercedes has been part of the owner's private collection and has therefore not been driven much during their ownership. The car is well-cared for and has been meticulously maintained. It is equipped with summer tires that have good tread depth. The Mercedes starts easily, and the engine sounds as it should, with a hint of the power it holds. The car is fine as it is, but it could be improved with an inspection at the vehicle testing center. The last inspection was performed in 2017. When the Mercedes was added to the collection, it was serviced and has not been driven many kilometers since.

The car starts easily, and the engine and drivetrain function as they should. The brakes work well. All auxiliary equipment, including the AC system, functions according to the owner.

Zustand Interieur
The well-maintained interior is in excellent condition overall. It is clean, intact, and tidy. The only issue observed is that the interior roof light is secured with duct tape; see photo.

The original paint is in good and glossy condition. The body is straight, and the panel gaps are even and parallel. There is a small damage and a few minor bubbles behind the left rear wheel on the trim under the fender; see photo.

Fakten zum Modell
The Mercedes-Benz W220 was the fourth generation of the S-Class, replacing the W140 S-Class after the 1998 model year. The W220 was available with a range of engine options, including diesel, gas, and petrol engines in V6, V8, or V12 configurations. Compared to its predecessor, the W220 had slightly smaller external dimensions but offered greater interior volume, especially in long-wheelbase versions, and slightly less cargo space. Production of the W220 began on August 13, 1998, with the production of the C215 coupé following in 1999. A total of 484,683 units of the 220 series were produced, slightly more than the production total of the W140. Production ended in late 2005, when the W220 was replaced by the W221 S-Class and the C215 was replaced in 2006 by the C216 CL-Class.

Very popular was the 3.2L 224 hp (167 kW) V6, followed by a 3.7L V6 with 245 hp (183 kW). The S500 was powered by a 5L V8 with 302 hp (225 kW). The W220 was the first generation of the S-Class where an automatic transmission was standard on all models. Initially, all cars had the 5-speed 5G-Tronic transmission, but after 2003 (2004 in the USA), the S 430 and S 500 were offered with the new 7-speed 7G-Tronic transmission.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
