Mercedes-Benz 600 W100 6,3 V8 — 1969

The Mercedes 600 W100 SWB (Short Wheel Base), one of the most expensive luxury cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s, was exclusively available to the wealthy, famous, and powerful, including many dictators. This specific model remains in good and usable condition.

"You will always be amazed by how advanced these cars are, even by modern standards. This Mercedes 600 W100 runs and drives well, featuring a smooth-running engine, easy gear shifts, and good brakes. The hydraulic systems are operational, although the car needs to be driven for about 10 minutes to build pressure. The hydraulic suspension holds its height for a few weeks before gradually lowering, but it fully functions again when started. It is permanently inspection exempt and ready to drive."

Beschreibung

The car's early history is not well documented, but it is believed to have been used by royalty in the UK before being shipped to Dubai. Originally a right-hand drive vehicle, as indicated by the VIN code, it featured a two-tone paint job (467 Sand Beige and 461 Bronze Brown). During its time in Dubai, it was converted to left-hand drive and repainted in a dark grey color.

In 1988, a gentleman in Stockholm purchased the car and imported it to Sweden, where it was registered on December 21, 1989. Since then, the car has had six Swedish owners, with the current owner acquiring it in 2010. The car is maintained in good running condition, with recent work including an overhaul of the brakes. It is frequently used during the summer and stored in a warm garage during the winter.

Included with the car are numerous extra parts, such as front and rear seats, wooden trims, side panels, and various electric components. Additionally, there is a rewritten electric circuit diagram in Swedish and an original one in German.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car starts directly and runs and drives well. The hydraulic pressure system, which powers the windows, seats, sunroof, and boot, works but performs better after being driven for 10 minutes. The suspension also functions properly but tends to sink after a few weeks. While nothing urgent needs fixing, and the car can be driven as is, there are opportunities for further improvements.

  • Zustand Interieur:

Interior is complete but features mismatched leather seats. However, it includes extra matching leather seats, allowing you to choose between brown or grey. The wooden trims have some worn varnish, and the trim around the windscreen is cracked. The door cards, carpets, and headliner are intact and in acceptable condition. The front seats have a few small holes on the rear panels.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

The best part is the bodywork, which is solid and free from rust problems, thanks to its time in the dry climate of Dubai and proper garage storage in Sweden. The left wing has a few small dents, and there are some minor paint touch-ups around the front panels and boot lid, along with a few small blisters in places. The underbody is very clean with no damage or rust issues. The chrome work is clean and shiny, with only a few signs of oxidation around the windows. Overall, the paintwork is in good condition with a shiny finish, presenting itself well despite the mentioned flaws.

  • Zustand gesamt:

The car has been used and driven as is for over 10 years, with a focus on maintaining it in good running condition. It can continue to be used this way by the next owner, or it can be fully renovated depending on your budget and preferences.
