"An eye-catching PV with a beautiful color."

Description

This Volvo PV was sold in Sweden and has been owned by the same family since it was new in 1953. It is in a nicely restored condition. The bodywork was done by Bäckmans Bilplåtslageri, and the paint was applied by OS Lackering, a professional painting company in Sala, about 20 years ago. At the same time, the engine was removed from the car and was also refurbished. The brake and electrical systems were also reviewed. The Volvo has been used during the summer and has always been stored in a garage. It has been equipped with yellow auxiliary lights and a "ganster cap" that matches the car's glossy Maroon red paint. Reportedly, the heating system was an option and cost a few hundred kronor extra. The Volvo was the pride and joy on the farm, and it has been well cared for. The car runs quietly and smoothly and was easy to start at the time of the photo shoot. Original receipts and instruction manual are included, see photos.

  • Interior condition:

Nice Volvo seat covers are on the seats. The original upholstery is in very good condition. There is a stain on the back seat that might be washable. The armrests on the inside of the doors are slightly damaged; the driver's door armrest is taped. The carpets and rubber mats are in good condition. The inner roof is also in good shape, except for a small tear around the ceiling light.

The car is very beautiful with some minor color corrections. It was completely renovated and repainted about 20 years ago. The rest of the chrome is in good shape. The paint around the side mirror has some minor damage.

Facts about the model

When it comes to the Volvo PV 444, there were often quite minor changes between the model years. In June 1951, the B-model was replaced by the C-model, a change that was hardly noticeable: The wheels were downsized from 16 inches to 15 inches, and the wheel bolts increased from four to five. When the PV 444 D and the special DS model were introduced in August 1952, the changes were limited to a more powerful generator, improved steering, and a heating system that no longer needed post-installation. The roof-mounted turn signal, known as "Takgöken", was replaced by side blinkers on the B-pillar.

Up until 1953, the DS was only available in gray. From the beginning of that year, the PV444 Special was also delivered in a maroon red color, complemented with red and beige upholstery.

The Volvo PV 444 was produced from 1947 until 1958 when it was replaced by the PV 544. Impressively, the PV444 became the most purchased car in Sweden for its time.
