"A car, a version, and a model for the true Saab 900 enthusiast who looks past challenges and only sees opportunities. And those enthusiasts exist, here and there, all over the world."

Description

It was delivered as a company car at Saab in April 1993 and remained in service for an extended period. The current owner took over the car from his father in 2020, who in turn had purchased it in 2005. The last approved inspection was carried out on March 6, 2008, and the car was driven a few hundred kilometers that summer before it was taken off the road in August 2008. Thus, it has been garaged for the past 16 years. Among many Saab enthusiasts and owners of these few produced left-hand drive Ruby Red units, there are those who keep track of all registration numbers, chassis numbers, owners, and statuses.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

It starts easily and has the model-typical rumble from the exhaust. The gearbox, brakes, and chassis feel fine except for some noise from a drive shaft, and first gear tends to pop out occasionally. But if the rest of the car is to be overhauled, naturally the engine, drivetrain, brakes, dampers, and bushings should also receive attention.

  • Interior condition:

Natural wear and tear relative to the mileage. A thorough refurbishment of the entire interior and treatment of the leather and wool upholstery would be beneficial. The sunroof doesn't close perfectly straight, and in the photos, there is some water leakage on the driver's seat cushion

  • Exterior condition:

The car requires some bodywork and a new paint job, or one might choose to drive it in its patinated exterior, which is also a kind of provenance. There's paint peeling and minor damages on the hood and trunk, rust on the doors and indications on the fender edges, as well as on the metal sheeting underneath the front. The hood cable is broken, and the hood doesn't close/lock, which can also be seen in the photos

  • General condition:

A rolling project, as mentioned. 350,000 kilometers leave their marks and needs: paint, interior, and rust repair. But, also as mentioned, a rare classic from a dormant brand.
