"A practical enthusiast car with enjoyable driving characteristics."

Description

This Citroen CX GTI model was manufactured in the autumn of 1984 as a 1985 model, which means it's a series 1 car with shiny bumpers and the extravagant bathroom scale-type instrumentation. The car was ordered new by a company from northern Sweden to be used as an executive car, equipped with all available options. According to reports, only a maximum of five GTIs with an automatic transmission were ordered in Sweden, including the series 2.
After its executive service, the car has been owned exclusively by true CX enthusiasts.
It received thorough rust protection treatment from an early age and has still not covered more than 13,000 miles since 1985, which is very unusual for a CX. At the time of photography, it was noted that the 190/65 HR 390 tires were in poor condition. Therefore, the car is currently on standard GTI wheels with new tires sized 195/70-14. The wheels seen in the pictures come separately with the car; these were accessory wheels for the GTI. It is delivered with a fresh inspection, free from remarks. The accompanying sunblind is included with the car, as shown in the picture. It has been repaired at one of the mounts.
This example is one of (according to unconfirmed reports) only a few hundred units produced during the transition between the original model and the facelift introduced in 1985. It features the old body style, bathroom scale-type instruments, all controls between the seats, and shiny bumpers. When the new model was introduced in July, the production line for the old version must have been halted for some time. Probably, a very limited number of GTIs from 1985 were made with the old body and the new engine.

Facts about the model

Citroën CX is a car model manufactured by the French automaker from 1974 to 1991, with a total production of 1,170,645 units. The sedan model was produced from 1974 to 1989, while the estate model continued production until 1991. Its comfort was considered unparalleled compared to its contemporaries. The CX featured a subframe that connected the front and rear suspensions, and the body was mounted on rubber cushions against this subframe. Most CX variants were equipped with DIRAVI steering, which was developed from its predecessor, the Citroën SM. This system means there is no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels; instead, it relies on hydraulic pressure for control. It provided remarkable road feel and self-centering depending on speed. Even a puncture in one of the front wheels at high speed would be barely noticeable, except for a slight reduction in comfort and grip – there was no pulling or jerking of the steering wheel. The brakes and suspension were integrated into a high-pressure hydraulic system. The CX was also sold in Sweden and was available with various engines, including 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.5-liter options with and without turbo, as well as a diesel version.
