Description

The Jaguar E-Type was sold new in New York in 1969 and was registered in Sweden in 2008. It has had only one owner since it was put into traffic in Sweden. The owner bought the Jaguar to renovate it gradually and be able to drive it during the summer. Since 2010, the car has undergone renovation and improvement every winter. During the summer, the car has been driven approximately 800 miles since 2010.

The owner has invested a lot of time in renovating the car and has spared no expense. He has replaced everything he felt did not meet the standards. The owner is now selling the car for health reasons. Therefore, he has not had the opportunity to install the new soft top that comes with it.

The car can be used with the current soft top. When the buyer chooses to install the new one in black canvas, it will be the finishing touch to a very meticulous renovation. A spare wheel and original jack are included, as well as a certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust.

Owner's comment

I bought the car in 2010 from the import company. My goal from the outset was to renovate it gradually during the winter months and use it in the summer. I have had the car completely dismantled and replaced all wear parts, including the following: Overhauled starter motor, generator, radiator. Had the cylinder head renovated with new valve seats, valves, guides, etc. Replaced all seals in the engine and gearbox. At the same time, a new clutch was installed. Replaced the differential/differential housing with one with better road gearing, also replaced all bearings and gaskets in the rear axle, and installed new coilovers, new bushings in the rear suspension, and new universal joints. Entire front suspension renovated including new shock absorbers. U.S.-sold Jaguar E-types were equipped with twin Stromberg carburetors to meet emissions requirements. I have installed completely new triple SU carburetors according to European specifications. All wiring looms are new. Comes with a full folder of receipts and documentation of the work done.

Facts about the model

Jaguar E-Type made a huge impact when it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961. It truly was a supercar and received immense praise. At its core was the self-supporting monocoque chassis and originally Jaguar's 3.8-liter XK engine, which grew to 4.2 liters in 1967. The body was designed by aerodynamic mathematician Malcolm Sayer, who came from aircraft manufacturer Bristol. The influence from the aviation industry is clearly visible, with body sides shaped like wings and the nose resembling the air intake of a jet engine.
