"An American everyday car from the mid-sixties that is sold new in Sweden is always a bit extra attractive, whether in a strictly original condition or not."

Description

It was built in Canada like many of the export cars to the European market. A genuine SS delivered new in Sweden in 1965, and if you're intrigued by the car's history, everything is available at the National Archives, which can be both fun and educational if you haven't done it before. In recent times, this Chevelle has been around Värnamo in Småland and on the west coast in the Gothenburg area. The current owner bought the car in 2016. There is a note in the registry about a discrepancy in the mileage history, but it was a misreading during inspection when the odometer had rolled over at 10,000 miles. Today, the total mileage is likely 21,739 miles, and as mentioned, with the help of archives, previous owners, and history, it's possible to research for a new owner. An extensive and thick folder with receipts is also available to delve into. The latest and therefore the car's last mandatory inspection was carried out on June 22, 2016.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The original 327 cubic inch engine has been replaced by a new 350 GM crate engine with Vortec heads and headers. It was installed along with a TH350 automatic transmission. Easy to drive in the typical manner with ample power from the engine, decisive shifts, and feather-light steering. The car has also been upgraded with front disc brakes, and thus lowered spindles with stiffer springs to achieve the correct height.

  • Interior condition:

Red and cheerful interior; seats, carpets, and headliner. New unassembled door panels are included. Nice wooden steering wheel, and the original steering wheel with accessories is in the trunk. Period-correct seat belts in matching red. Aftermarket sound and heat insulation are visible here and there, primarily on both sides of what can be called the firewall.

  • Exterior condition:

Last painted sometime 15-20 years ago, and additionally the roof and driver's door 2 years ago. Classic setup with the wheels and rear suspension height. Aftermarket sealing at the window frame in the front edge of the doors.

  • General condition:

Solid and handsome with a mechanically reliable feel. A popular midsize car in a typical interpretation, in a nicely user-friendly condition.
