Description

The owner purchased this dream car Lotus Elite S2 in 1974 from a gentleman in Gothenburg. The car was original white like most and this one had been upgraded and raced in the early 1960´s. The brake had been upgraded and the engine fitted with a sharp cam, 5 bearing camshaft, Weber carbs, ZF gearbox and upgraded electric fuel pump etc. During the past 48 years ownership the car been regularly maintained by it knowledgable Lotus enthusiast owner and driven often during the summers and always kept in a warm garage. Over the past 5 years the car's been repainted in British racing green and had an interior re trim and the car looks great with no damages and interesting pop plastic side windows it also comes with a lifetime free inspection/MOT done in 2017. Older original SU carbs, camshaft, and cylinder head are included, but the older MGA gearbox is not. These cars are extremely difficult to find, and the opportunity to purchase one does not come along very often, so seize the opportunity to purchase this magnificent Lotus.

Facts about the model

Colin Chapman demonstrated that his skills as a racing car designer and function could be applied just as easily to production road cars with the Lotus 14, better known as the Elite. Nonetheless, the Elite was designed with competition in mind - Chapman aimed for class wins at Le Mans and the Monte Carlo Rally - and incorporated technology developed in Lotus' single seaters. The Elite was every bit as innovative as Chapman's outright competition cars, with a world-first glassfibre monocoque body tub, independent suspension all around, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel disc brakes, the rears mounted inboard. The engine was a lightweight four-cylinder Coventry-Climax FWE, a 1,216cc single-overhead-cam unit producing 75bhp, while the gearbox was a BMC MGA fitted with an alloy casing and modified bell-housing.
